BIDWELL SAFE SCHOOL ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
Dear Bidwell Families,
Thank you for reaching out to me with your questions, ideas, and concerns in the wake of the 2/14 tragedy at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. One common sentiment I’m hearing can be summarized in one question, “What can I do as a parent to make my child’s school safer?” While there is no easy answer to that question, it remains a topic worth discussing nonetheless.
To that end, I would like to invite you to a Bidwell Safe Schools Roundtable Discussion on March 28, 2018 from 5:30 – 6:30 in the Bidwell Library. The purpose of this discussion is to provide a safe space to share questions, ideas, and concerns in an environment free of political agendas. This discussion will be about what WE as parents can do to help make our schools safer—working together. The following agenda will guide our discussion and help keep us on track:
AGENDA
5:30 – 5:45 Light Refreshments: Informal greetings, conversations, as parents arrive
5:45 – 6:00 Facilities, Relationships, Protocols: “What do we already have in place to keep kids safe?”
6:00 – 6:25 Questions, Ideas, and Concerns: “What can we do together to make Bidwell a safer place?”
6:25 – 6:30 Next Steps and Follow-up
Respectfully,

HONOR ROLL PARTIES
The week after spring break, the counseling office will be having a get-together for all the Honor Roll students. Students had to receive a 3.5 GPA or better for the Spring 2017 semester or the Fall 2017 semester. It will be held during 6th period in the MPR. Invitations will be distributed the day before the party. Below are the days for each grade level.
Monday, March 26th – 8th Grade
Tuesday, March 27th – 7th Grade
Wednesday, March 28th – 6th Grade
BLAST FROM THE PAST!
Students and staff had fun dressing up for the Sock Hop Day! Lessons were centered about events and technology from the 1950's and the day finished off with a rally to celebrate Bidwell's 60th anniversary.

BLAST GOES TO LEVI STADIUM
Six of our BLAST students had the opportunity to visit to Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. They got to do STEAM activities, walk on the field, get an interactive tour of the museum there, meet a player, and make a meal for a pro athlete. The kids had an amazing experience and were shining examples of Pioneer Pride; they received several compliments about their great behavior and attitudes. Touchdown!
LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Bidwell Families,
As we head into spring break, I would like to request that you take a couple of minutes to complete the annual School Climate Survey, linked below. Students and Staff take a similar survey and the results of all three are compiled and analyzed by both the district office and site administration to identify areas of strength as well as areas for growth. For example, we used last year’s data to reallocate funds to improve supervision before, during, and after school. We have been more communicative with families about how they can help their students learn at home. We have made explicitly teaching—and re-teaching—expected student behaviors a priority, again based on your feedback as well as that of your students’. In other words, your feedback and input is very much appreciated AND utilized. I estimate that the survey will take you no more than 3 minutes to complete, including the time to provide any written feedback. I assure you that I will read every word and make adjustments as I see trends—just like we did this year. My bosses also use this info as a part of my own evaluation.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve you and your kiddos this year. Your time in completing this short survey is much appreciated.
