OES Physical Education Expectations
SHOES
** Clean PE shoes - keeps our gym floor clean for all students, allows for safe movement in the gym and during all activities. These DO NOT have to be new, just CLEAN.
CLOTHING
**Clothes that do not restrict movement, are comfortable and that follow the student hand book clothing rules.
ACCESSORIES
** It's best to leave jewelry and other items in the classroom so they do not get lost, broken or cause injury to self and/or others.
**Long hair should be pulled up for the safety of the student.
DOCTOR NOTES
**A parent excuse is good for 1 PE class and it's best if the teacher is notified via e-mail or phone call.
**Mrs. Peterson 641-673-8092 ext. 1562 petersonj@oskycsd.org
**Mr. Kem 641-673-8092 ext. 1560 kemc@oskycsd.org
This helps prevent any miscommunication or interpretation of a note.
**If more than one PE class needs to be missed due to an injury, a doctors note is required. Please also notify the nurse as well as the PE teachers of any special needs or assistance if required. This is in the best interest of your child so everyone involved has the same information.
PE and Standards Based Grading
Along with these standards there are outcomes as well as a scope and sequence of what skills students should be able to complete at each grade level. Most skills go from Emerging to Maturing between K-8 grade.
This year Physical Education classes will be 45 minutes in length. Each class comes to PE 1x every 4 days. That equals about 45 classes per school year. Our physical education department will introduce many skills to your child, but we are counting on YOU to keep your kids active outside of the school day and to continue working on these skills at home.
We will be assessing our students at the end of most units or in some cases, after the students have had many opportunities to practice a skill. You will find these assessments in infinite campus under the proper GLB. Those assessments will then be used to determine the final grade for each GLB at the end of each trimester. Please note that we will not assess every GLB each trimester, but they will all be assess at some point by the end of the year.
