Scott 6th Grade Center's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening in Ms. McGuirl's Classes?
In Ms. McGuirl's class, Room 404, students may attend classes in Math Instruction or Social Skills.
In our Math 6 class, we are using a replacement curriculum to support our knowledge in the critical skills that govern the principles of mathematics. In the Math Foundations classes and Extension classes, we are working within the framework of the General Education Math classes. There we are revisiting the skills and operations of those classes to dig deeper into the foundational principles of why and how to correctly solve for the various whole and rational number skills.
In Social Skills, classes are working to view situations from the point of view of another person, think about situations before reacting to them, and to gain practice in working cooperatively with others.
All students have been working hard and making progress. I am very proud of all of their achievements!

PBIS Expectation Review
We welcomed our students back from Winter break this week, and reinforced our Scott expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness and Safety. Students were reminded of what the expectations are for following each of these traits in the various parts of our building: classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, arrival and dismissal in the auditorium, the bus and the cafeteria.
Our students are given ROCKStar tickets when staff see them following the expectations. Students are able to purchase items from our school store on Fridays during lunch using their tickets. Staff also reward students for going "above and beyond" by giving golden tickets. Students put these tickets in a box in the main office. At the end of each month, Mrs. Lamothe pulls ten golden tickets for prizes.
We are looking forward to our quarterly reward at the end of January. We will be celebrating all the students that had no behavior referrals for the second quarter!
