Messages from Coronado Middle School
March 15, 2020
Hello Triton Families,
As always, I’m grateful for your support and thank you for your patience during this unexpected time. I know you have many questions regarding multiple aspects of the school closure. With fluid communications from the state, the District is working closely with the County to provide more information this week. Please continue to check the CUSD website and email. https://coronadousd.net/about/covid-19-information/ I, too, will be in contact with you once I have accurate information regarding school work, grades, etc.
Take care and be well.
All my best,
Karin
Please find the letter from the District below.
CUSD Families,
In alignment with the San Diego Unified School District, the Los Angeles Unified School District and local districts around San Diego County, the Coronado Unified School District is providing preliminary notice of school closure for the entire district beginning Monday, March 16.
As you know, currents events involving COVID-19 are developing rapidly in our country and our region. In consultation with County Public Health and superintendents from school districts across San Diego County, the Coronado Unified School District will close schools beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, April 3, 2020. Classes are tentatively scheduled to resume April 6, 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will provide timely updates to you and on our website: Click Here.
This decision was made with the best interests of students and staff in mind. The potential of additional cases of COVID-19 exist and in an abundance of caution, we will continue to monitor this situation. Students should stay home and minimize social contact to curb the potential spread of the virus.
While your student(s) remains home, we encourage you to continue practicing good hygiene, which includes:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
Get vaccinated for the flu is you have not already
Please see the notification from the San Diego County Office of Education regarding school closures in the area: Click Here.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in keeping our community healthy, safe and thriving.

Islander Sports Foundation
CMS Sports Families,
As you know, Coronado Unified Schools will be closed starting Monday, March 16th. Along with school closures, all CMS sports through Islander Sports Foundation will be suspended until April 6th due to concerns around COVID-19. It is our hope that by taking these measures we can rejoin activities and schooling at that time and move forward with the remainder of the season. We recognize that the situation in the broader community is continuously evolving and we will track these changes with our partners. As new information becomes available, we will circle back with further messages about whether it is possible to proceed with a revised schedule for all sports. I will be working closely with our League schools to find a solution for the season schedule and will communicate a plan forward once we have that in place.
We know that athletics are a very important part of social and physical life for our children and look forward to the time when we can re-organize these activities. We will do our best to provide the safest and most feasible season possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at cmssportsad@gmail.com. In an effort to keep communication clear and organized, I will not be replying to Facebook messenger, text messages, or emails to my personal account. Please direct all your inquiries to the aforementioned email address.
In the meantime, we encourage all of our student athletes to invest time in exploring education, trying new projects, staying fit and healthy at home, and connecting with others! Now is the time to write that note to a loved one, make a phone call and say hi, read that book that you always wanted to, try at home workouts and challenges, be creative with your time!
Thank you for doing your part to keep our whole Triton Family healthy and strong! We look forward to resuming activities after April 6th. Stay tuned for updates!
