Transitional Epithelium Cell
BY: Jessica Blake & Claire Suarez
Function:
Transitional Epithelial Cells protect the urinary system from toxic effects of urine. They also will stretch to accommodate the volume of the bladder/other organs when filled with liquids.
3 most prevalent organelles:
Nucleus:
The nucleus is the brain of the cell. You can see the dark spots in this image are the nuclei.
Cell Membrane:
Also known as the Plasma Membrane, it is the flexible border around the cell.
Cytoplasm:
The cytoplasm protects internal organelles.
Tissues that cells create:
It creates Urothelium / Uroepithelium. It allows for liquids to be inside and so it can expand and fluctuate.
Organ:
The tissue Urothelium is can be found in the bladder, urethra or the uterus
(Bladder shown below)
Cell tissue and function of organ link together
The tissues will expand, allowing the organ to expand when it becomes full. If it wouldn't expand, there could be toxic affects on your body.
