People of the Cell Theory

The cell was discover by Robert Hooke in 1665. The first person to look at a live cell was Antony van Leeuwenhoek. He named the moving organisms animalcules meaning "little animals." Theodor Schwann showed that yeast were tiny plant like organisms.


People of the Cell Theory

Matthias Schleiden was the co-founder of the cell theory, along with Theodor Schwann, and Rudolph Virchow. He was also a German botanist. Rudolph Virchow was a German doctor, anthropologist, pathologist, prehistorian, biologist, writer, editor, and politician. He was known for his advancement for public health.

The observations or Robert Hooke,Antony van Leeuwenhoek, Theodor Schwann,Matthias Schleiden, and Rudolph Virchow led to the development of the cell theory.
