Lilburn Middle Media Center News

November 2015

And just like that....

it's the week before Winter Break! I know everyone is ready to spend some time with their family and celebrate the holidays. It will be summer again before we know it!

Before you go on break, stop by the media center and take a look at some of the projects from students in Mr. Waugh's Latin classes. They are pretty impressive!!

Winter Book Fair

The LMS Media Center finished hosting our 2nd Scholastic Book Fair of the year. Students and staff were able to stock up on some great books for the upcoming winter break. Didn't have a chance to make it to the book fair? No problem...we have another one coming up in the spring! More details to come later!

Genrefication at its finest!

Our volunteers have been hard at work with our fiction section! You may have noticed that some of the books you've checked out now have different colored stickers on their spines. What does it mean, you ask? Well, let me tell you....

Our fiction section is in the process of being "genre-fied". Wait. What??

Yes, you read that correctly. So, what this means is that instead of our fiction section being on the shelves alphabetically by author, the books will instead be broken up into different genres. So, for example, all of our funny books will eventually be located in one section, and all of our scary books will be located in another section, etc.

Genres coming to the media center are:

Realistic Fiction

Science Fiction

Historical Fiction

Paranormal Romance

Chick Lit

As you can see, we have a long way to go. Expect the completion of this project to happen over the summer and be ready for the 2016-2017 school year!
