The Stallion Stampede

Janie Stark Elementary Parent Newsletter

August 14, 2022

Dear Stallion Families,

Why to the BEST of days? I sign all of my communication "to the BEST of days" because I believe that elementary school is a precious time for students and their families. It's the BEST of days....creativity, fun, laughter...kids being kids. These days are fleeting. They pass so quickly and I want Stark to be the place that leaves those last memories that builds the love of learning into our students.

I encourage you to cherish these days. The days may be long but the years will be short. Enjoy packing the lunch, reading the bedtime story, and just playing without a device or tv.

At Stark, we are going to work hard this year. But we are also going to laugh, have fun, dress-up, and get silly...because these ARE the BEST of days!

To the BEST of days,

Mrs. Putman

Safety and Security

Safety is our #1 priority here at Stark. The district has also implemented additional safety and security measures so that all of our students and staff stay safe!

  • All exterior doors on campus will be closed and locked at all times.
  • All interior classroom doors will be closed and locked any time the students are in the classroom.
  • With our recent construction updates, we have upgraded our security cameras throughout the building and on the exterior of the building. There are several multi-view cameras located throughout each hallway in the building.
  • All campus visitors must enter and sign in at the front office with a photo ID.
  • Our campus SRO (School Resource Officer) will make frequent visits and campus walkthroughs each week.

Afternoon Dismissal

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding last week. We are aware that dismissal procedures took longer than normal. We have adjusted some procedures and hope for a quicker day today. On average, once our system is in place, we are done dismissing by 3:15-3:20 each day.

Safety is my #1 priority. I know safety isn't always convenient, but to ensure each student gets home with the correct family member and isn't standing/sitting outside in 100 degree heat, we have placed these guidelines and procedures in place to maximize health and safety.

Good News: Car Tags went home FRIDAY! This means by Monday, if everyone has their car tags promptly displayed, our dismissal will run much quicker. Please check your child's bag for their car tag. Car tags were sent with the youngest child. At this time, we have sent home one car tag per family. If you need additional car tags, please see link ibelow to order another one.

Please help us by reviewing the following procedures and having patience as we safely dismiss over 700 students:

  • To help us expedite our dismissal, please have your car tag number displayed clearly for our staff on duty
  • Stark Staff members will be on duty inside the building to guide students safely to their exit from the building as they are dismissed.
  • Parents will remain in their vehicle during dismissal. Please do not park and walk towards the building to retrieve your child.
  • Stark staff will be on duty at all outside areas of the building to ensure students are guided safely into their vehicle.
  • Parents of walkers may walk to the staff member on duty at the front doors and cafeteria doors to show their tag # and to call their child down.
  • A Stark Staff member will be present in these designated areas to call for the student to be dismissed when a parent arrives to pick them up.
  • Bus lane is for bus traffic and Pre-K students and siblings, and Communications ONLY; These students will be issued a BLUE CAR TAG. Please do not pull into the side loop without a BLUE CAR TAG or you will be asked to move.
  • We will not be releasing students after 2:30 pm. This disrupts the end of day procedures and often slows down our dismissal.

Please be patient with us the first few days of school as we get the students back into this efficient and safe routine from last year.

Thank you!
