PRINCIPAL NEWS
Greetings EES Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already at February Break. This school year is flying by and we have so much to celebrate! This week we celebrated our 100th day of school. While this is an exciting day each year, it felt extra special this year. We are grateful to be celebrating 100 days of mostly in-person school for our PK-2 learners. On Thursday, we rang the school bell in recognition of our 100th day. I appreciate all of the hard work you have put in to help us get to this day safely and successfully! Our partnership with staff, students, families and community to educate our students has been amazing- thank you everyone!
Announcements:
At the end of this school year my co-principal, Peter Farrell, is retiring. I am thankful for his support and partnership this year and for all of the wonderful work he has done at EES over the past 10 years. Mr. Farrell has contributed to the success of our school and laid the foundation for our future success as well.
Remote Learning Wednesdays will continue until at least April Break. Please see more information from Superintendent Beth Cobb in the most recent EWSD Communications message. If you have any questions, please let me know.
I hope you all enjoy the break with your families. I look forward to welcoming everyone back, rejuvenated, in March! Take good care and please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
My Best,
Ashley

MOVEMENT PATHWAYS AT EES
Essex Elementary School has added Movement Pathways in each grade-level hallway! A Movement Pathway is a regulation tool that uses a series of systematic movements for improving self-control, focus, and cognitive functioning. Our SEL Team, in collaboration with our Physical Therapist, developed unique pathways for each grade-level hallway. These are made to be used as a whole class during transitions or for individuals when they need some extra movement throughout the day.
Check out this video to see how these pathways are used at our school!
Check these articles out for more information about the science and evidence behind Movement Pathways.
