NEU Field Club Newsletter
September 2021
A message from Mrs. Griger
Hello, NEU Field Club Families!
What a wonderful first few weeks it has been. 2021-2022 is off to an amazing start! Students and teachers have focused on practicing routines and procedures. We've been working hard to learn what it means to be respectful, responsible, safe, and kind and students are showing us they know what to do.
This is the first official Newsletter of the year. It is a monthly newsletter that I send electronically on the first Friday of the month. Occasionally I send a "Special Edition" when it is needed. You can also access the most current newsletter on our website at: https://fieldclub.ops.org/
Be sure to connect with your child's teacher on Dojo. We use this app in grades PreK-5 to recognize when students are being respectful, responsible, safe and kind. You can see just how they are doing. It is a fabulous communication tool. Search for CLASS DOJO in the Play Store or iOS App Store.
iPad agreement forms should be turned in. If we do not yet have your agreement form, students will not be bringing iPads home. They will use them during school hours only. See your child's teacher if you need an additional form. This includes insurance protection information as well,. $20 to cover the iPad through July 2022.
Thank you for your cooperation at arrival and dismissal.
Please reach out if you have any questions or if we can help in any way. Enjoy the weekend.
With NEU Pride,
Mrs. Griger

Important NEU Field Club Notes & News
Health and safety is our priority. To protect students, staff and families, our district updated face covering requirements for the start of the 2021-22 school year. Students, staff and visitors must wear a face covering while inside our school. We care about our students, and we can work together to limit the spread of COVID-19. Our school will have face coverings available for those who need them.
When to stay home
If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. If your child has:
- two or more of the following: fever of 100.4 or greater, chills, muscles aches, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue,
- at least one of the following: new cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of taste/smell
they MUST stay home or they will be sent home. Please inform the school and will provide the next steps. Together, we can help slow the spread of COVID.
Building Security
For the safety and security of our students and this building, we are asking that any parent visitor make an appointment prior to entering the building. We will continue to limit outside visitors due to Health & Safety Protocols.
School Messenger
We will be using the School Messenger (email or Robo call) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal Accounts
Did you know the fastest way to keep your child's information current and to check on current grades (for grades 3-5) is to have a Campus Parent Portal account? Call the office to get your code and set this up today!
Attendance
The Omaha Public Schools strongly believes that daily attendance is critical to academic achievement as well as social and emotional well-being. We expect every student to attend school and classes on time and every day.
OPS Research shows that there is a direct correlation between student attendance and academic achievement. When comparing proficiency rates of two groups of tested third through eighth grade students, an additional 13% of students were proficient in English Language Arts and an additional 16% were proficient in Math when they were present for 97% or more (missing nine days or less throughout the school year).
In accordance to the Nebraska State Statute 79-209, click here, the Omaha Public Schools District has in place an attendance policy that supports the encouragement of daily attendance while providing supports and resources to students and families.
Attendance supports within schools include School Support Liaisons (SSLs) and Attendance Designees (Elementary Assistant Principals)as well as School Counselors, School Social Workers and additional members of Attendance Teams. If you need assistance with attendance issues, please contact your child's building administrator, School Support Liaison, School Counselor or School Social Worker.
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to call their child's school (School Secretary and/or Attendance Secretary) as soon as they are aware their child will be absent.
