A Message From Dr. Ricks
Parents and Friends,
We have a lot going on as we make our way through October. Next Thursday, report cards will come home. Please feel free to contact your teachers if you have questions about your child's academic performance. Please put grades in context and know when a "B" calls for great praise and when it calls for reassessing priorities. Our focus at GES is to foster the child's love, mastery, and respect for learning; the letter grade is only one measure of how well we are meeting that objective. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the efforts and accomplishments of our students.
Evergreens sales are going strong. We have two more weeks to get our orders in. Please sell, sell, sell. This is the major PTF fundraiser, and all money generated through Evergreens sales is put back into the budget for the benefit of our students. IPads, curriculum support, teacher incentives, and PE and playground equipment are just a few of the items purchased from past Evergreen sales. This year, a large percentage of sales will go towards our Recreational Spaces upgrades. This includes the areas where our students play, and both Lower School playgrounds as well as the Middle School rec area will be under construction as the year progresses.
The Booster Club and their dedicated group of volunteers have been working hard on Swamp Bowl, and the students are excited...it is definitely the buzz around campus. Our Tackle 1 football team is excited to play, our Junior Cheer squad is ready to show some spirit, and our Middle Schoolers are volunteering their time to help run the event. Please come out to Neville this Saturday and support our Gators. They play at 10am vs. Tallulah. Hope to see you there!
Don't forget that Monday (10/17) is "Blue Shirt Day." Students may wear any blue shirt of their choosing to raise awareness for the Prevention of Bullying.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Dr. Beth J. Ricks, Ph. D.
