PATTERSON PRINT
Live, Laugh, Learn, Leave A Legacy
Dear Pride Families,
The 2021-2022 school year is off to a successful and positive start! The staff and I were excited to see so many of you at our Curriculum Night, Parent Teacher Conferences and Peter Piper Night. As always, we continue to value your partnership in providing the best education for your child throughout the year, and creating opportunities for family fun.
For the third year we are so proud of our students for choosing a way to “pay it forward” with community service opportunities. Below is a list of the ways that each grade level has chosen to impact our community:
Kindergarten: Stuffed animal drive (with the Gilbert fire department)
1st: Operation Christmas Child
2nd: Holiday cards for an assisted living facility
3rd: Letters to Veterans
4th: Open Arms Care Center
5th: Giving Tree (with the Chandler Care Center)
6th: Feed My Starving Children
As we move forward into September we look forward to more PRIDE Spirit Days, celebrating our Be Kind Pledge, and watching your children continue to grow as the new school year is in full swing.
Important Classroom Treat Reminder
Thank you families for your generosity and commitment to health and safety.
The Library Corner, Notes From Mrs. Hufford
"My mouth is watering for books!" (Exact quote from a second grade student as he entered the book fair.) I am excited to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair set a new Patterson record. Our students LOVE reading! Thank you for supporting our school library by purchasing books from our book fairs. You probably did not know that book fairs are our number one source for funding and adding new titles for your children to check out.
Another way we are able to add books is through Birthday Book Club donations. This is an opportunity to turn one of your child’s birthday gifts into something that is shared with many children at Patterson. Invitations for July, August and September birthdays will be coming home the first week in September and are due back to us by September 14th so that we can plan for the big party on the 17th! For more information, read the Birthday Book Club link on the Patterson Library web page. https://www.cusd80.com/domain/3098

Tech-Talk With Mr. Hoppal
We are in full swing of a new school year. Over the past two years we have learned that technology has become an integral part of our daily life in education. It is now even more important that all students are digital citizens and good stewards of technology. I am excited to come along side of all the parents to help make this happen. Our district technology curriculum, Learning.com, and Google Workspace for Education will be used throughout the school year to help teach the necessary skills to all grades.
Here a few great ways you can support the learning in the technology classroom:
- Visit Mr. Hoppal's Virtual Classroom to see what we will be learning each day.
- Please send headphones with your child on their tech day as we do not have shared ones available anymore. It is important to have your littles in kinder and 1st grade practice wrapping them up and putting them in their ears. This can be an adventure sometimes!
- Encourage your students in grades K - 2 to continue practicing with a real mouse and keyboard to become even more comfortable. You could even have them practice some of the past activities we have done in the technology lab.
- Encourage your students in grades 3 - 6 to work on their typing each week. This typing, known as Adaptive Keyboarding, is individualized to meet the needs of each student. It is part of our Learning.com curriculum.
Thank you for your continued support. As always if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please email Mr. Hoppal at hoppal.jason@cusd80.com.
