Monty Money Winners of the week!
Monty Moments: Thank a Veteran
Tigers,
Today is a special day in my family. I feel honored to celebrate over 20 family members 14 within my close family that are Veterans of the Navy ( My husband, Father-in law, cousin and my husband's grandfather who was one of the original Frogmen), Army (Sister in law , uncle, cousin and my 3 Grandfathers) , Airforce ( My Uncle and Cousin), Coast Guard (Cousin) and Marines (Cousin). I celebrate each one of these amazing individuals who have worked so hard to serve our country.
They have all had a huge impact on my life in so many ways. If you have a Veteran in your life, take the time today to thank them and honor them for the many ways they have impacted your life. I know that Monteith has many families with active and retired women and men who have served in one of our military branches so if you see them please tell them thank you!
Our students took the opportunity to design cards for Veterans that will be given to the War memorial and to a few of our assisted living centers around Metro Detroit.
Have a wonderful weekend!

ART NEWS
Kindergarten students are learning how paper can be folded to create something that is 3-Dimensional. We are learning how to use different shapes to create a reindeer. First we fold the top of our paper over to create a snout. Next, we used torn paper to create a light colored fur stripe with a soft edge and glue around the edges to attach it to our papers. We then use scissors to cut out the geometric shape of a circle for our nose. We trace our hands, cut them out, and glue them on the back for antlers. Using brown paper, we draw ears, cut them out and also attach them to the back. Lastly, we draw eyes on white paper, cut them out, and cut and glue black circles for our pupils. Check out students creating their heads, soft-edged fur, and antlers.
