Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language

Hello Fronteras Families!

Another wonderful week at Fronteras! We hope you all enjoy a fabulous extra-long weekend! No school for district students or staff tomorrow (Friday) and Monday, Sept. 4th.

Morning drivers - please pull all the way forward to the end of our sidewalk when dropping students off. This allows morning vehicles to pull along the entire length of the sidewalk to unload vs. waiting in a backed up line out the entrance gate. Reminder: Vehicles may not be parked along the sidewalk or anywhere in the drive through lanes at any time. If you must leave your vehicle to help your student, run into the office, or speak to a teacher, you must park in a designated parking spot. The drive through lanes are for driving through only – No Parking. Thank you for understanding and honoring this request.

Please remember that school ends at 2:35 each day. Students should be picked up no later than 2:45 unless they are participating in Cross Country.

Thank you to everyone who is consistently using SDM for afternoon dismissal changes. It is not necessary to call the school or email the front desk after making the changes on line. We are notified electronically when a change is made, as are the classroom teachers.

Super Important: Fronteras Student Handbook went home with your youngest or only child today. After reading, on the last page, please list all children currently attending Fronteras, sign and date, have your children write their names, and return to your child’s homeroom teacher. Thank you!

We wish you a wonderfully relaxing and joyful weekend together! We look forward to seeing you September 5th!

Most Sincerely,

Mrs. Hutchins

A Friendly Reminder

Please be aware that After School Enrichment Clubs are volunteer based outside of normal school activities. School administration is not involved and this is a privilege provided to families by volunteers. Any feedback, questions or concerns can be sent to the After School Club volunteer coordinator Jen Manion at 907-229-4116.

Volunteer Log Book

The Volunteer Log Book is located at the front desk and is ready for you to start recording your volunteer hours! The pages are in alphabetical order under family student last names. Look for your highlighted name label at the top of the page.

Box Tops

Yes, we collect Box Tops! You can drop off Box Tops any day and anytime in the Box Top collection box located at the front desk. Please make sure to throw away any expired Box Tops.

After School Enrichment Clubs

Next week, Sept. 5th, After School Enrichment Clubs begin. Students are dismissed from clubs at 3:45. Please be prompt picking your participating student(s) up from their club(s). Late pick-ups will be monitored closely. If a parent is consistently late picking up, that participating student will be removed from the club. This is to protect the club volunteers’ time. Any questions can be directed to After School Club organizer, Jen Manion at 907-229-4116.

Swimming will be offered for Quarter 4 at the Palmer Pool in two sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Students will ride the bus from Fronteras to the Palmer Pool. Parents will need to pick up their student by 4:15.

**due to renovations, the Wasilla Pool will not be offering swim lessons this year**
