Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
RETURN TO SCHOOL WEEKLY UPDATE FROM DR. SUE
As we have come to expect, information and guidance from our state and federal leaders continue to change. This week has been particularly active and ever-changing.
We started the week with Governor Brown announcing that educators and our 65+ population will be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines beginning Jan. 23. With today's announcement about a limited vaccine supply coming from the federal government, we recognize this plan continues to shift. In the Governor’s announcement this afternoon, educators and school staff will continue to be prioritized. Full Message

Important Information About COVID-19 Vaccinations
Immunization Requirements and Resources
The Oregon Health Authority requires that schools intending to resume in-person education or activities during the 2020-2021 school year submit student immunization records to the state. TTSD is committed to returning to in-person learning when the state metrics allow it.
Students whose immunizations are not complete, or who do not have an exemption for immunizations by February 17, 2021, will be excluded from participation in any in-person activities on school campuses. This includes, but is not limited to, in-school learning and extracurricular activities (such as sports, music, clubs, band, etc.).
Please contact your student’s health care provider to schedule an appointment for any missing immunizations. The TTSD School Based Health Centers also give immunizations by appointment:
Neighborhood Health Center @ Tualatin High School: 503-941-3180
The Virginia Garcia Health Center @ Tigard High School: 503-431-5775
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school’s district nurse. The district’s RNs can also help you determine which immunizations may be needed. School Nurse Contact List

What Does it Take to be a School Board Member

Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m.
High school students enrolled in REAP, a local multicultural youth leadership nonprofit organization will join the Q&A session to share their experiences, challenges they face relating to equity and disparities in education, and suggestions for improving board member-student relations.
Bring your questions about running for a board position, the election process, board work, and student engagement! We’ll also leave plenty of time to answer questions about school board service, including how to sign up to run.
