The RHE Rattler
August 12, 2020
A Message from Mrs. Frankhouser
We are currently preparing for our first three weeks of remote learning. We are flexible and proactive puzzle solvers and have been challenged with the puzzle of our lifetimes! Thank you for your patience as we organize, pivot, improve, and work to keep you informed.
Tell your Rattlers to check your mailboxes for a little surprise from me! If your letter doesn't appear in the coming days, please print this and share it from me to your Rattler.
How do teacher placements work this year?
I see my child's homeroom teacher in Skyward now. Is it correct?
Any class information currently available to parents in Skyward is for teacher training purposes only. These mock-ups include drafts of student class placements. Teacher assignments are not permanent and may not reflect your child's actual homeroom teacher. LTISD is aware this data is live and unreliable. We are still working on 2020-2021 class placements for all students, remote and in-person, and changes are being updated in Skyward daily.
Learning PODS:
Though learning together is extremely important, we are not able take requests to place students in the same class to accommodate learning pods. Our classes are built on teacher input for individual student need and on parent input submitted through Parent Input Forms. Our teacher teams are working together and are aligned which will be helpful for community formed learning pods.
Student Commitment Forms: Remote or In-person Learning:
Student commitment forms were due last Thursday, August 6th. You may revise your commitment form up to two weeks prior to the first day the district is able to offer in-person learning on campus. **Please note, the child of any parent who does not submit a form will default to in-person learning on campus.
The Student Commitment Form is available in Skyward Family Access. Once logged in, select the icon "Commitment Form 2020-2021" from the home screen and follow the instructions provided.
How likely is it that my child's homeroom teacher will change?
We are working hard to minimize changes in homeroom teachers. With that, it is important to know that changes to homeroom teachers can be expected as we transition from all remote to some remote and some in person classes. There may be changes for students regardless of their instructional setting, remote or in person.
The great news is that we have assembled THE DREAM TEAM of teachers and staff, and your children are in great hands at Rough Hollow Elementary.
Meet the Teacher - Virtually 8/17 & 8/18
Expect an email from your child's teacher around 4:00 pm on Friday August 14th. In the email will be a video in which the teacher will include a personal introduction, an introduction of the team, and little about what to expect in your child's grade level. It will also include a little about what to expect for the first day of online school including where to go and how to login.
Requests for class changes will not be considered.
Your teacher will then reach out to you and schedule a personal 15 minute google hangout virtual meeting where you can meet your teacher online on August 17th or August 18th. Children are absolutely encouraged to join that meeting. Teachers will meet each family separately. Teachers can't wait to meet you!

Remote Learning Schedules
Daily student participation and progress in learning activities will be required, however student participation will not be measured based on how often they are online live with the class. Attendance will be determined based on a blend of the student’s submission of assignments, daily quizzes, and live interactions each day. This allows our students and parents the flexibility to determine when and how a student participates throughout the day.
Returning Student Packet
Both remote learning at home and in-person learning on campus must complete a Returning Student Packet for each child in Skyward.
