The Catholic Christian Community of St. Anthony of Padua welcomes all to our celebration of God's love. Through prayer, education, sacraments, caring and stewardship, we strive to serve the needs of God's people and to gain a richer understanding of the gospel message of love.

In the Classroom This Week:

Religion

Students will be preparing to take the Unit 3 Test on Thursday (3/15). Students will be allowed to use their textbooks as well as their notes.

Language Arts

This week in Writing and Grammar students will be learning about perfect tenses; the present perfect, the past perfect, and the future perfect. They will be able to identify an inappropriate shift in verb tense, and be able to correct the inappropriate shift.


Students will take Unit 13 Vocab Test on Friday.

Math

Students began Chapter 11 yesterday. This chapters focuses on multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. In this chapter students will learn how to multiply fractions and whole numbers, fractions and fractions, and fractions and mixed numbers. Students will have a quiz on Friday.


Students are encouraged to review their daily notes from class every night.

Science

In Science, students will learn about Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin temperature scales. They will be able to convert temperature measurements from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Students will also be able to measure the mass of solids and liquids using a hexagram mass set.

Social Studies

Students have begun working on assembling their state trifold. They are looking great.

State Trifold will be due Wednesday, March 21. Students will be given time in class to work on the assembly. This is an in class project and part of their grade will come from using class time wisely. Students will need to be ready to present on Monday, March 26.


Students are encouraged to bring in their tribal dioramas in on Thursday, March 22 for extra credit.

Reminders:

Wear green on Friday, March 16

Students will be allowed to wear green tops, socks, and hats on Friday with uniform bottoms. Students will not be allowed to wear hats to mass.

Rice Bowls

Students are filling "rice bowls" to collect money during this Lenten season as part of our almsgiving. Thank you for giving this Lent! Students may return the rice bowls to class at any time before Easter break.

Saints Hygeine Drive

Saints is hosting their annual Hygiene Drive to help support Holy Cross. This drive will run from Monday 3/12 Friday 3/16. Students are asked to donate personal or trial size unopened hygiene items.

Schedule Reminders

Thursday, March 15: 5A last class hot lunch. Please check SchoolSpeak for an email from Mrs. Bell. Please make sure to bring your assigned item to class by Thursday. We are still in need of some parents to help serve on Thursday from 11:30- 12:30. Please let Mrs. Bell know if you are available.

Friday, March 16: St. Patrick's Day- students are encouraged to wear a green top with Mass uniform bottoms and green socks. Hats may be worn after Mass.


Thursday, March 22: Open House: Open House will take place from 6:00-7:30 pm. At this time students will be able to show off all the hard work they done so far this year. We will have a minimum day.

Friday, March 23: V.I.P. and Grandparents Day will take place from 8:45 A.M. (school mass) to 12:30 P.M. This is a fun day to invite relatives and friends to enjoy a special lunch and share their classroom! There will be a 12:30 dismissal.


Wednesday, March, 28: 1:15 8th grade present the Living Stations of the Cross in the Community Center.


Thursday, March 29: Minimum Day. Easter Break begins. School resumes Monday, April 9th.

Third Trimester Changes:

  • Late work will not be accepted after being published for one week on SchoolSpeak (from Tuesday to Tuesday). After one week, scores will be changed to zero credit. We hope students have built organizational and time management skills to turn in assignments complete and on time to be ready for 6th grade.
  • The 2nd Trimester "No Name" policy will remain, that any assignment turned in without a name will lose 2 points.
  • Students must earn at least 15 AR points in the 3rd trimester. Students are allowed to work as teams. No more than 4 students per team.
