Ciguatera Poisoning

Thisillness is Ciguatoxins produced by microscopic sea plants called Dinoflagellates that contaminate tropical reef fish. It is also the most common seafood- toxin in the world infecting a least 50,000 a year. It may take this illness up to six hours to appear.


  1. Nausea
  2. Vomiting
  3. Diarrhea & cramps
  4. Excessive sweating
  5. Headache and muscle aches
  6. You can also have a "burning" sensation


Some of the treatments provided is supportive care and Intravenous mannitol. You should call poison control immediately at 1(800) 222-1222 if you feel you have been poisoned.
