Duties and Hours

  • Duties and responsibilities for a L& D nurses is to treat both, the mother and the baby and help birth the child.

- induce labor

- monitor fetal heart rates

  • Average hours would be around 40 hours a week
-Work 8 hour shift, or 12 hour shifts

-Work also weekends and holidays


What do I need to do?

First you need to get your associate degree or a Bachelor's degree for nursing. Also, your going to need a valid Registered nurse license, the certifications for neonatal care for your position you want. After you accomplish that you have to be trained by a hospital in order to get the position of a L&D nurse. The approximate time this will take would be 3-4 years
