From the Superintendent of Schools

Dear WTSD Community Members - Can you believe that a whole month of school has gone by already? Where has the time gone? We have been very busy here in our schools. We have been composting, coding, reading short stories, writing short stories, soaking up the sun during recess, and even planning for the remainder of the school year. It was wonderful to meet so many of you at our Back-to-School Nights and Waterford Day. I look forward to continuing our partnership, as we strive to provide the best education for our learners. As always, feel free to reach out to me at anytime if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Board of Education Meeting

Wednesday, Oct. 21st, 7:30pm

Waterford Elementary School, 1106 Old White Horse Pike, Waterford Works, NJ, United States

The Executive Session will begin at 6:00, and the regular session will begin at 7:30.
September has been a very busy month in Fourth Grade. Our students have begun to adjust to life in WES. We are learning to be better readers, writers and mathematicians in just the few short weeks that we have been in school. We have even become scientists! All of the fourth-grade students have learned about the Scientific Method during a very exciting Gummy Bear Lab this month. Students wrote hypotheses about what would happen if a gummy bear was soaked in water overnight. Groups worked together to gather data on the gummy bear, which included measuring its length and weight and taking an inventory of its physical characteristics. The students then plotted this information into a Scientific Method foldable. Many students were surprised to see the results of this experiment, and eagerly worked to chart their findings. We are all looking forward to using the Scientific Method to conduct many more experiments as the year progresses!
