Classroom News

We are starting our second unit- My Friends and I. During this unit we are learning to get along and about friendships. Friendships are important to young children as well as adults.

We will be reading My Friends by Carmen Tafolla. We will be exploring what makes a good friend. We will be reading the classic story The Little Red Hen. We will be working on the following words as vocabulary: friend, fun, game, laugh, play, together. For our amazing words we will work on: admire, blink, comfortable, customer, enormous, wonder

We are also working on rote counting 1 to 5. As part of friendship week, we will be doing activities where students will have to take turns. Students will gain skills in counting and turn taking.

PINK CAR TAG

Dismissal is getting better and will continue to do so. We first and foremost want to keep your children safe. Please have your car tag hanging off the inside car mirror. This allows our staff to spot which student you are picking up. Secondly, make only one line closest to the preK playground. If you park next to the street, we will not place your child in the car. Most of all, please stay in your car. This is a moving line. If you need to, please pull up and move out of line to buckle your child. Please do not jump the line at the corner. We have almost had an accident there.

PEANUT AND NUT AWARE!!!! All PK classes

WE ARE PEANUT AND NUT AWARE!

We have some students that have peanut and nut allergies. One of our student has contact issues with peanuts and nut oils. Therefore we are instituting some more safe guards.

This will be a year without PB and J. We do not want any of our PK friends to go to the hospital.

Emergency Clothes

We need a set of emergency clothes in each child's bag. We will be doing a bag check for all our children. We are asking that each child has a top, a bottom (pants, shorts, or skirt), socks and underwear. We have very limited resources for small sized clothes and we would really dislike bothering you during your work day. Please check your child's bag this weekend.

In addition, please put shorts on little girls under their dress or skirt.

The Library

Our children are so excited about being able to check out books. Please take the time to read their book with them. Your children do not have to bring it to school every day. Just place back in their back pack on their library day. The librarian asks that if a book gets spilled on or needs extra attention due to it being damaged- please don' t attempt to fix. She will let you know if it needs to be replaced or if it can be returned to circulation and used again by students.

TUESDAY-FULL DAY

THURSDAY-HALF DAY

A Rainbow of PK

Thank you for supporting us as we try to make learning our colors fun. We have had students wearing the color of the day. This has made learning fun and students have been able to tell their teachers if they are wearing a specific color and even name the article of clothing that they were wearing that had the color of the day. We will continue dressing in a different colors each day for the next couple of weeks. This is to give our student a better understanding of the color, makes it real to them and best of all it is fun. Please, if you can, dress your child in the color of the day. If you don't have an item of clothing to match for that day it is fine. We do not want you to go out and buy something for one day.

Here is the schedule of colors.

Monday Sept 19-Disney Shirt

Tuesday Sept 20-purple

WednesdaySept 21-Jungle Attire/Animal Prints Shirt

Thursday Sept 22-white

Friday Sept 23-Falcon Spirit Shirt

For Our Whole Day Parents

LABEL MEALS

We need your assistance with lunch boxes. We need to have your child's two meals CLEARLY marked. On the container write BREAKFAST and LUNCH.

NAP MATS
Please wash nap time blankets and return to school on Monday. There is nothing like napping on clean fresh bedding.

Label Label Label

This last week we have had items lost and relocated. The biggest help to us is labeling everything you send to school. Backpacks and Lunch kits need names on them. As the weather changes label sweaters, sweat shirt and raincoats.
