Esther F Garrison School for the Arts News You Can Use

This is Principal Parks with news you can use. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers and mother figures. We salute you today and all of the care you provide. Thank you for celebrating me and all of our faculty and staff last week here at Esther F Garrison School for the Arts where creativity and critical thinking prepare our students for 21st century living and where a love for the arts make the difference! There are 12 days left of school still in the best month of the year.

What an amazing week as teachers and staff "traveled internationally" compliments of our wonderful PTA. A huge thank you to those who volunteered to assist PTA with their efforts to spoil our teachers and to those of you who brought items and had them delivered. We still salute all teachers, staff. school nurses and speech pathologists.

Kudos to our outstanding Visual Arts, Band, Chorus and Theater performances this past week. We are still taking many precautions but are so thankful that our children are able to end the school year doing what they love!

Congrats are in order for all of our media festival state winners. A complete list of winners is included in the SMORE.

Contact Nurse Black at for questions. Contact Information Specialist Little at for any attendance related questions. See the SMORE for the updated district COVID protocols.

SCCPSS remains committed to providing in person learning options through the implementation of layered mitigation strategies while using isolation and quarantine approaches that account for the operational needs of the District.

See the link for updated protocols and guidance.

If you or a family member has tested for COVID and do not have results, please use your best judgement and ask questions about a return to school. Contact our nurse and your teachers. We want to stop the spread and keep our children and families safe.

Please take heed to all of the protocols to include, washing hands and the optional wearing of a mask. Feel free to use the reporting link or email us should you have any symptoms.

Informational Awareness

Law enforcement agencies across the country have noticed drug traffickers are using emojis to buy and sell counterfeit pills and other illicit drugs on social media and through e-commerce. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) shared a guide aimed to help parents decode secret messages their kids are using to buy drugs on social media.

This bulletin gives educators, parents, caregivers, and influencers a better sense of how the emojis can be used in conjunction with illegal drugs.

Make Healthy Choices

Lets continue to make half your plate veggies and fruits; be active for at least 60 minutes day; drink more water and limit sugary drinks; and limit screen time to one hour

Drinking Water and Intake

Drinking enough water every day is good for overall health. As plain drinking water has zero calories, it can also help with managing body weight and reducing caloric intake when substituted for drinks with calories, like regular soda. Drinking water can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, mood change, the body to overheat, constipation, and kidney stones.

Happy May to all! There are a great many coats and jackets in the lost and found. Remind your child to bring their jackets and coats home each afternoon.
