STAFF REMINDERS (LCAP GOAL 2)
Teachers, just a friendly reminder of very important protocols and procedures that will help enhance the quality and quantity of student learning:
● As the holiday season kicks into high gear, keep classrooms celebrations, parties and other non-curricular activities to a minimum.
● Keep tight control of student restroom trips during class time. One student at a time and no multiple trips by the same student.
● Ensure each student carries a pass out of the classroom.

INTERATIVE STUDENT PRACTICE
For students to become agile users of the language of academic content and proficient in the discourse styles we utilize, they must have opportunities to try it out. Structured routines should be intentionally incorporated throughout teacher modeling, peer rehearsal, and some assessments. Routines can occur in pairs, in small groups, or during whole-group discussion, but they should be focused and frequent. The emphasis is on developing automatic and fluent accuracy. We call these routines because when used on a daily basis, they become routine. Students know what to do and can confidently and efficiently move into a handful of well-established classroom routines. This frees them to focus on the learning at hand.
Some examples of Interactive Student Practices are:
Appointments: Clock Partners/ Where in the world/music partner
Numbered heads together
A/B conversations
Give one/Get one
Conducting an Interview
Language Logs
Send a question
Ticket out the door
Discussion Cards
Talking sticks
Talking chips

PARENT INVOLVEMENT (LCAP GOAL 4)
Parents, just a reminder to keep your child focused on learning. At home, always ensure your child has quiet place to complete homework. Reading 20 to 30 minutes a night must also be part of the nightly routine. Also, school attendance is hugely important. Please make sure you call the office or send a note to excuse your child when they are absent. Your child will be considered truant and/or unexcused if an absence is not cleared within three days. Once again, thank you for your involvement and commitment!
