Celebrating Seniors
Seniors - you have been looking forward to this week for 13 years. Take time to enjoy and remember the special times ahead. Monday will be your last full day of attendance. Tuesday you will gather in the main gym for your cap and gown panoramic picture and then load buses to take your Legacy Walk through the other district campuses. Wednesday is graduation rehearsal and then the BIG DAY is Saturday at 10 AM in the UNT Coliseum. I look forward to greeting each of you as you walk the stage to receive your diploma.
You are a special class to me. We started at LEHS together 4 years ago. You may remember that I told you then that I was going to be the first LEHS principal in some time to see a class through their four years of high school from freshmen year to graduation. That seems like it was only yesterday but we have ushered in many positive changes during that time that says otherwise. We worked with our new superintendent, Dr. Lowell Strike, to come up with the mission, vision, and core values of the district. Melodie Malithong and Megan McAtee served on that district committee that set us on a path to Engage, Equip, and Empower every student in LEISD. We have seen many of our programs rise to prominence with teams going to playoffs an expectation now, academic programs such as Academic Decathlon bringing state recognition for our academic success, and fine arts programs continuing to set the bar high. We have seen the district invest $20 million dollars into our facility to make it a place we are all proud to call home. You have been witness to so many positive changes in your four years at LEHS.
Even though your time at LEHS is coming to and end, I am not only extremely proud of your accomplishments and legacy here at LEHS but I am looking forward to seeing the great things you will do next. I hope you take with you the confidence to try any challenge that interests you, the discernment to know when you need help, and the courage to ask for it. You are prepared for your next journey. Believe in yourself and you will soar to new heights. Remember, we are One Community, One Pack and you will always be a Lobo!

The CTE department is pleased to recognize Nurse Pope as teacher of the week. Here's what her colleagues have to say about Debbie Pope:
- She goes above and beyond to help students be successful currently and in their futures! She has done a great job with practicum and gives herself to the health science program and this kids.
- She has stepped up and taken the practicum class farther than any teacher we have ever had teaching it. Since she is an RN the kids are getting real stories and plenty of hands on/ in the field training!
- Pope has taken over the practicum class and done wonders with it! The students are doing hands on labs and having meaningful discussions about their clinical rotations. She sets up guest speakers and classes so the students can learn even more than required and be better prepared for their future medical job!
- Mrs. Pope has a work ethic that doesn't quit!
- She has fun with all students and cares for them. She finds ways to help students and teachers.
- Debbie's caring persona and empathy are ideal for both the nursing and teaching professions making her a great example for our students to aspire to emulate in their careers.
Report Harmful, Harassing, and Bullying Behavior
LEISD has an on-line tool called "Anonymous Alerts" that students, parents, and teachers can use to report harmful, harassing, and bullying type behaviors. Anonymous Alerts bullying reporting mobile app helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressures are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Anonymous Alerts encourages students, parents and staff to quickly, easily, and anonymously report bullying, cyber-bullying, gang-related issues, and other sensitive topics through private messages to school officials by building. All reports remain completely anonymous even during a two-way email conversation, although submitters have the option to reveal their identity if they prefer to have a person-to-person discussion.
