Parent Volunteers Needed for Georgia Milestones Testing!

Each test site is in need of at least one parent volunteer to help with check-in, directing parents and students, etc.

Testing Dates

Georgia Milestones EOG Grades 3-8 April 25-29 (3-5 tests in morning; 6-8 tests in the afternoon)

Georgia Milestones EOC Grades 9-12 (May 2-6)

If you are able to help during test week, here is what you need to know:

o Each test site needs at least ONE volunteer. Final determination of volunteer need is made by the testing site coordinator. All volunteers who complete the survey will be contacted by the site coordinator to discuss site needs.

o All volunteers must complete the volunteer survey below

o Volunteers with background checks are preferred but not required

TWO Types of Volunteers

General Volunteer – general volunteers will help with the following: Preparation – signage, balloons, etc., Greeter (parking lot/front door), Student check-in/out, Directing parents within the test site, Crowd / noise control in hallways to ensure quiet test rooms, Emergency evacuation – follow teacher instructions, Minor emergency situations (student illness, etc.), Optional: lunch run for teachers between am/pm testing, Optional: organize small gifts for teachers on the last test day

Test Proctor (requires background check) a proctor assists inside the classroom with students and teachers. Proctors do not administer the test but are expected to constantly monitor students who are testing by walking around room, and follow all teacher instructions. Proctors may also assist in 1-1 or whole-class restroom breaks. Proctors are expected to arrive/depart at the time the site coordinator designates and will fully participate as a GCA staff partner during the entire test week. Proctors are also expected to communicate with the site coordinator on the schedule for the test week and will adhere to the days/times agreed to.

A background check enables the volunteer to assist as a “proctor” INSIDE the classroom and help during restroom breaks. A background check costs around $10 and can be obtained by going to the local police station. Be sure to call first the local police station, as not every station provides this service. *Background checks must be no more than 180 days old, background check must be dated on or after November 2, 2015.
**Scan and kmail or email all background checks to Shirley Waldow at
