Yes. Fowler will remain on a 4 day school week for the 2022-2023 school year. The school board will review this decision after one year.

Yes. The City of Fowler has graciously confirmed that they will continue to provide school supplies for Fowler Grade School students. Students will need to provide a backpack, a slightly oversized t-shirt for art class, and a pair of tennis shoes to keep at school for PE daily.
Will Fowler continue to have rural route transportation to Fowler schools?
Yes. This will be available to any student that resides within the district boundaries of Fowler and following the 2.5 mile transportation rule from KSDE.
Will elementary students be allowed to ride the bus to Meade?
No. Only resident students of the Fowler school district that are attending grades 7-12 in Meade per the cooperative agreement will be transported to Meade.
Will there be combination classes?
We have designed an educational model for next year that includes combined classes for homeroom and some instructional time, such as science, social studies, handwriting, etc. For math and reading instruction, teachers will be specializing in one subject area and students will rotate to grade appropriate sessions with various teachers to ensure they are receiving instruction at the right level. We will use elective teachers and adults who are currently enrolled in teacher education training programs as team teachers to support the core teachers during combined classroom situations.
What special classes will be offered?
We are excited to be expanding our elective offerings next year! Students will attend daily art, music, and PE classes. In addition, 5th & 6th graders will have band daily.
Do we have more vacancies to fill?
At this time we have filled all of our open positions and have a full staff for next year.
Would my child be better off to switch to Meade now instead of waiting until 7th grade?
- At Fowler we are firmly committed to differentiating and personalizing instruction for each student individually to ensure academic growth. We have an excellent teacher to student ratio which enables us to achieve this and also ensures that our students receive the attention and emotional support they need.
- Fowler and Meade both select instructional materials that are aligned to the Kansas state standards for each subject area and students will be taught the same skills each year regardless of which school they attend. Fowler and Meade teachers will be collaborating annually to ensure this is true and make adjustments as needed.
- Fowler has secured art, music, band, and PE for next year, making our specials offerings broader than ever before.
- Junior High is a natural time of transition for students. Classroom expectations and extra-curricular opportunities change, and all students entering junior high will be starting fresh to some degree. Fowler is confident that we can support our students through their transition to Meade at 7th grade. We also envision building opportunities for our elementary students to engage with Meade's students to begin building friendships while attending school in Fowler.
- In order to sustain our elementary school in Fowler, the district must maintain an enrollment count that will generate enough funding to provide for the needs of our school. Students that live within the Fowler district and choose to attend other schools result in a loss of revenue for our district. We encourage all parents with elementary aged students living in Fowler to enroll their children in our school and partner with us in making our school the best it possibly can be!
