HVCHS Updates

---INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 9, 2016---

THANK YOU...

...to Kelly and Pam, our school nurses. National Nurses Week is this week (May 6-12). Please take a minute to stop by and thank Kelly and Pam for all of their hard work!

ANNUAL EVALUATION INFORMATION

We are in the middle of annual evaluation season. Please click here for important information about the annual process, and click here for updates about the SGO and PDP completion process. In addition, we have provided a list of professional development hours that you have completed this year. If you have any questions, please reach out to the administrator responsible for completing your annual.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The marking period will be halfway over on Friday, May 13. Please make sure that your gradebook is up to date, since posting grades is an important way to communicate with students and parents.

Please continue to take attendance in each of your classes in order to maintain accurate records. OnCourse recently released an attendance app that will allow you to take attendance on your phone if you are interested.

On Tuesday, May 31, we will be conducting the Operation Head On assembly for our juniors and seniors. Additional information will be shared in the upcoming weeks.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Monday, May 9 is a half day for students and a full day for teachers. We will be conducting professional development at CHS from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The focus will be on the 1:1 initiative and blended learning. Please plan to meet in the cafeteria at 1 p.m. on Monday.

CONGRATULATIONS TO...

...Zhang and Kyla Chasalow, who each won first place in the NJ Congressional Art Competition!

...Annabelle Davis, who is one of 65 students being sent on full scholarship by the US Department of State to act as youth ambassadors to countries with significant Muslim populations. Annabelle will be stationed in Thailand.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

This week's article discusses the concept of blended learning and discusses the idea that "making blended learning work is less about acquiring technology, and more about changing mindsets".

COMMUNICATION

We've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the community about the information we have shared via Twitter. We would like to highlight more of the amazing things you are doing as teachers, coaches, and advisors. If you have something that you would like us to feature via the building twitter account, please let us know!

We would like to create a school-wide hashtag that could be used by student groups, teams, and teachers each time a tweet is created about CHS. Please let us know if you have any suggestions!
