St. Mary's School
Health and Safety 3.12.2020
As the situation with regard to Covid-19 continues to develop, we are aware that some schools in surrounding communities have made the decision to close for varying lengths of time. We continue to monitor the situation and communicate with local public health and education officials to make informed decisions regarding course of action. As I am sure you are now accustomed to hearing, this is a rapidly evolving situation. Therefore, we should be prepared for the possibility of changes with little notice.
Of most immediate concern to you, Saint Mary's School will be open tomorrow, Friday, March 13. The before school program and after school program will run as scheduled. Melrose Public Schools has made the decision to close all schools at noon tomorrow in order to conduct a deep cleaning of their facilities. This afternoon and evening we have additional maintenance staff in the building who are doing the same thing, disinfecting our facilities with special emphasis on high-touch areas (door handles, light switches, chair legs, etc.) and horizontal surfaces (desks, tables, counters, etc.).
As the situation continues to evolve, we will make decisions in coordination with our local health department, school district, and city government. We remain committed to the health and well being of our students, staff, and family members, and I will send out further correspondence as needed. Thank you.
Mr. Christopher Beza
