Attendance
Student anxiety is a common reason for keeping children home. Please know that we have supports in place to help students here at school. Our counselor, Mrs. School has a Monday morning group that meets to overcome anxiety early in the week. Our teachers are currently being trained with strategies to equip students that may be facing anxiety about school. Please consider sending your child to school, even when they may seem upset. We are equipped to help them. It is very likely that your child will participate fully in school once they arrive in the classroom.
There have been updates to the law regarding absences due to documented illness for students. If your child missed school or part of the school day due to a medical appointment, PLEASE TURN IN A DOCTOR'S NOTE. This note will help the office keep accurate records and will not count toward a student's excessive absent count.
State Report Card
Our biggest area to monitor/improve is in the area of special education. We continue to have a large number of students score below the proficient mark. We had an A in the Progress category which means the State of Ohio is very confident that NES students experienced "at least 1 year's growth in all testing areas". We also scored an A in the Gap Closing category. This means that specific categories of students (i.e. special education, economically disadvantaged students) are scoring above expected scores.
If you have any questions or would like more information regarding the state report card, please contact Mr. Sackett.
