Our School Rocks!
Inspiring a love of learning in a safe and collaborative environment!
October 29, 2022
Dear Families,
We had a great week! We were busy with several events which included our 1st grade field trip, our 3rd grade music practice and performance at Lansing Middle School, our October Site Council Meeting, our PTA Skate Night, and our October PRIDE Assembly over RESPECT.
This next week, on Monday (October 31) we will have our fall costume parade & parties, no school for students on Tuesday (Nov 1), our KC Cups Fundraiser and our Thursday late start. Here is some fall party logistical information:
Students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school on Monday. Costumes should follow these guidelines:
- Students are able to learn and participate in all activities (class, recess, gym).
- No masks
- No fake blood, body parts, knives, etc..
- Students are comfortable wearing them (won't get too hot).
Families are welcome to watch the costume parade on the south side of our building (the side with the flag pole) and should arrive by 1:20. The parade will start at 1:30.
Parties will be over by 3:00 and parents/ guardians are asked to exit the building at this time, so buses can get to the school for dismissal.
Please contact classroom teachers with any specific questions.
Reminders:
We have transitioned from letter grades to standards-based grading as a K-5 system. Please see information below regarding this shift.
Safety: We have implemented increased security measures. Visitors will not be allowed to enter the building during arrival or dismissal. All visitors will need to call ahead or use the walkie-talkie at the entrance.
Attendance- Please call us at 913-727-1128 in the event your student will not be at school, will be in to school late, or needs to leave early.
Traffic: Please remain in your vehicles during car rider pick up. Thank you for following our traffic protocol.
Going Home: Please remember to call in any ride changes before 3 PM. The number to call is 913-727-1128.
Bus Transportation: must be pre-arranged by families. If your student rides the bus, you may want to use the Compass app (see info below). This provides parents and guardians about bus information in real-time.
