Order your yearbook

David Flanary here, adviser of Sevier Middle School’s journalism program. I wanted to reach out to you with some information about the 2023-2024 yearbook.

This time, we are partnering with Jostens to produce a 100-page, full-color, hardback yearbook to celebrate the memories students will make. Yearbooks will cost $30.00; customizing the yearbook with a student's name will cost an additional $8.00.

Every year, we have a large number of students who miss the opportunity to purchase a yearbook because they simply forget to place a pre-order. Ordering early is the best way to secure a copy of the yearbook.

If you’d like to secure your copy of the yearbook, please click here to purchase online.

If you have any questions about this year’s Sevier yearbook, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at dflanary@k12k.com

JrROTC

Come join us! Our next meeting will be Monday November 13, 2:45-4 in the library. These meetings typically occur every other week.

Permission form must be on file. Please see Mrs. Williamson in the Library for a form.

Interested in Golf?

Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade boy or girl interested in playing on the Sevier golf team in the spring, that did not attend the informational meeting please see Mr. Fissel (Room 233) for information about the upcoming season.

Lost & Found

We have lots of items (sweatshirts, hoodies, water bottles, lunch bags) in the lost & found that is located outside of the cafeteria entrance (in the atrium). See photos below. Be sure to go by there and look for items that may be yours. Items remaining will be donated.

Parents, please encourage your child to go by this area and claim items that belong to them. Also, have your child write his/her name on water bottles, lunch bags, jackets, etc.

Interested in playing football next school year?

Anyone that plans on playing football next year for John Sevier or Dobyns Bennett (DB) would be greatly benefitted by participating in the weight lifting program for middle school athletes that is held at DB. Weight lifting sessions are offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 - 4:15pm. There is a bus that takes them over to DB after school (a bus pass is needed). Parents are responsible to pickup at 4:15. If you are planning to play football and are not involved in a winter sport/practice, it is strongly encouraged to attend.

Fri-yay snacks

Fridays couldn't be sweeter thanks to the FRI-YAY snack cart. PTO will be set up during activity period (when students walk the track) selling a snack on Fridays during the school year. Your student can buy a pre-packaged treat for $2.00. The plan is for our snacks to change monthly depending on the feedback we get from the students. The snack cart is cash only!

Also, if you would like to help volunteer during these times, please use the sign up link below.

Reminder as temperatures change...

Parents, Please talk to your kids about dressing in layers rather than resorting to the clothes closet for these needs. We try to utilize the clothes closet for a true need (dress code, spills, clothing need, etc). Remind your child to bring a light jacket/hoodie to keep in their backpack, as needed. Again, we try to utilize our jacket/hoodie supply for true needs.

Thank you for your support in this matter!

7th Grade Trips

7th grade will be taking a field trip to Dollywood in December. The cost of the trip is $55. This includes the cost of the bus, admission to the park, and a food voucher. If your child already has a Dollywood season pass, the trip will cost just $5. This will cover the cost of the school bus, but will not include the food voucher. Money was collected the week of October 16-20. If you have any questions, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

7th grade will be taking trips in December and May. Students received a form outlining the behavior requirements for these trips. Students are required to return these forms, signed by a parent or guardian, to their homeroom teacher. All forms were due by August 31. If you missed this deadline, please reach out to one of their 7th grade teachers.

Water bottle filling stations

We are blessed to have several water bottle filling stations located throughout the school. It is encouraged for students to bring a water bottle with them to stay hydrated. Also, this helps students from missing class time if they have water with them rather than making trips to the water fountain.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer Warriors will meet on the below scheduled Wednesday's at 7:15AM in the library. Participants must have a completed permission form prior to attending. They can pick a permission form up from the office.

On the alternate Wednesday's, Wyldlife will be held in the library starting at 7:15AM. Please join us for that as well.

Reminder for families that pick-up at or near the Renaissance Center

Thank you for partnering with us on this matter. #ItTakesaVillage

Please remember that this is a center for the Seniors in our community. We ask that you are mindful about parking in their lot and/or blocking entrances/exits in and out of their parking areas. They have vans that transport the Seniors, Seniors that drive, as well as staff.

Also, if your child waits for you in this area, they need to know they are not to enter the building - please try to be prompt in picking them up. They also do not need to sit on the steps leading into the entranceway. This can create tripping hazards for the Seniors trying to enter/exit the building. Thank you for your support in this matter. We will be reminding students that are in this area after school about the expectations.
