NEW MASK POLICY
The Gardner Edgerton School District remains committed to prioritizing the health and safety of our students and employees. The procedures outlined below will be in place December 1st.
Students in Grades 5-6: Masking is required in all areas of the building during the school day with the exception of an outdoor recess and eating at lunch.
Students in Grades 7-8: Masking is optional in classrooms where 5th and 6th grade students are not present. Masks will be required in all common areas of the building such as hallways, restrooms, the office, etc. during the school day. * Please continue to send masks with your students daily as they enter and leave the building and common spaces.
AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Spectators for inside events will not need to be masked.
BUS RIDERS: Per Federal Order, all bus riders must wear masks. Students will keep masks on until they arrive at their designated morning location.
ELECTIVES and CLASSROOM: All students will attend electives per their schedule. In 5th and 6th grade classrooms, students and staff will be masked. Any classes with mixed grade levels that include 5th and/or 6th graders will also be masked. Students will be allowed to play instruments using mitigation equipment. Students in vocal music in 5th and 6th grade can sing with masks on and socially distanced.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS & ACTIVITIES: At this time schools may resume before and after school clubs and activities. Social distancing should be encouraged and seating charts utilized. All students and staff involved with 5th and 6th-grade students will need to be masked during these activities while inside the school building.
FIELD TRIPS: Field trips will be permitted second semester following the District Field Trip Protocols.
FOOD SERVICE: Students will be socially distanced, facing forward. Classes will be assigned times to report to the cafeteria for students to get their lunches with limited opportunities to serve themselves. A continual rotation service plan will be utilized for lunch with classes entering and exiting at specific times to decrease the number of classes in the service area at any given time.
GUESTS: Parents and visitors must check-in at the front office and must wear masks while inside the building. If items need to be dropped off at the school, please call the front office and leave the item at the table located by each schools’ office.
As we continue to collaborate with local, state, and federal health agencies, our priority remains the health and well-being of students and employees in our school district.
Thank you for your continued understanding and support.
