Carpool Lane Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Morning Arrival:
- Please pull your car all the way forward to the end of the loop, come to a complete stop, and allow students to exit the vehicle. Pulling all the way forward will help to alleviate the back up onto Silver Springs Drive, particularly on the days that it is cold, snowy, or rainy.
- Have your child(ren) kissed and ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the unloading zone. Please stay in your car. Only children should exit the vehicle. Students should only exit the vehicle on the passenger side.
- The second bell (tardy) rings at 8:46 a.m. and all doors will be locked. If you arrive after this time, you must park your car and sign your child(ren) into school at the front office.
Afternoon Dismissal:
- Please pull your car all the way forward to the end of the loop, come to a complete stop, and allow students to get into the vehicle. Pulling all the way forward will help to alleviate the back up onto Silver Springs Drive, particularly on the days that it is cold, snowy, or rainy.
- Display your Family Name Card on the right side of your dashboard for easy recognition.
- Pick up your child(ren) in the designated loading zone only.
- Do not exit your vehicle to load your child(ren) as these are moving loading zones only.
Here's to a safe and seamless arrival and dismissal.
The 7 Habits at Home
New each month for 2017!!!
Our students have been working hard to become experts in the 7-habits. As a result, it’s time for the student to become the teacher! Each month we will focus on a different habit. Please spend time with your student(s) learning about that habit. We even have an activity for you to do together. Each month’s activity will be returned to school at the end of that month to be displayed throughout the school.
This month’s Habit: Habit 3 Put First Things First
Activity: Color, Symbol, Image
Due Date: January 31, 2017
The activity will be coming home this week in the Monday envelope, but I have also attached it here. We hope you enjoy learning from your student!
Check out the video below for more information!

Mission Possible – Science Fair Chair Needed
It is that time of year for our Silver Springs Science Fair. We hope a parent or two would consider this mission to help our students REACH for the STARS! The Science Fair is an exciting and rewarding learning opportunity for all students who participate and fun for all others to experience. If no one accepts this mission, unfortunately we will have to cancel this popular event. The dates and format are flexible. Please contact Leslie Cardenas at silversprings.pta.president@gmail.com if you are interested.
Don’t miss out…Birthday Lunch Celebrations are still available.
For those that still have birthdays or half birthdays to celebrate, don’t forget to reserve a date to have lunch with your child on their special day! Fill out the request form and return with a donation to save the date. This form can be found on the PTA website.
Girls on the Run
It is that time of year again! Girls on the Run spring registration is quickly approaching and we are in need of parent volunteers to keep the program at Silver Springs. Girls on the Run is available for 3-5 grade girls. It gives them the opportunity to exercise, develop friendships, participate in team building activities, and learn how to handle difficult situations. Spring season is March 13th-May 26th. Parents need to commit to 1-2 days per week after school.
If you are interested in volunteering for this program or have more questions, please contact Pam Schulman schulmpa@northvlleschools.org

Habit #3 Put First Things First- "Work First, Then Play"
What this means: Focus on what is important, schedule the important things first. Don’t be a dreamer - stay focused!
“I spend my time on things that are most important.”
“I say no to things I know I should not do.”
“I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.”
“I am disciplined and organized.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Do your homework as soon as you come home from school.
2. Do something you have been putting off for a long time.
3. Think about your most important responsibilities. Do them first.
Great Books for Habit #3- Put First Things First
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Pokey and the Spelling Test by Sean Covey
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats
Froggy Gets Dressed by Jonathan London
The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone
