Locust Street Expressive Arts
Learning Through the Arts Best Prepares Students for Life
MARCH NEWS
Dear Families,
Thank you for donating items for parent/teacher conferences in February. We appreciate your overwhelming support and love for the teachers here at Locust Street Expressive Arts.
Don’t miss out on kindergarten registration! If you cannot make the March 10th registration evening event you can stop by the front office and we will be glad to help you out, you can also check out the information below.
We will be giving the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test starting in April. Students in grades 3-5 will take the test. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be tested in the areas of Language Arts and Math. Fifth graders will also take a science exam. Both teachers and students in these grades have been working very hard getting ready for the tests. If possible, please do not schedule appointments on days your child is scheduled to take the MAP test. Students traditionally do much better when they take their test with their class, rather than make it up later. Thanks for your understanding!
I am sure you are looking forward to spring as much as I am, please also be on the look out for upcoming LSE events! A few are listed in this newsletter!
Sincerely, Mrs. Coggins

Lottery Information for 2022-2023
Each year we accept new lottery students according to enrollment at LSE. It is our goal to keep class sizes low in grades K-2, around 15-18 students with three classroom for each grade. Then in grade 3-5 a goal of around 22-24 students in each class with two classrooms for each grade.
The number of students accepted into the lottery K-5 each year is dependent on current enrollment.
Incoming kindergarteners who have a sibling who is currently enrolled at LSE, automatically are accepted as "siblings" and do NOT need to apply for the lottery.
LSE will be hosting an Lottery Open House on Monday, March 21st. There will be two sessions from 5:30-6:30 pm or 6:30-7:30 pm.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone you may know!
