First Snow Fall
Preschoolers are amazed by new experiences. The first snowfall is especially exciting to a child. Each moment of the experience is taken in through all of their senses. Watching children lay their eyes on the sights of the beautiful landscape of snow with mouths open wide to taste a snowflake as it hits their tongue, it brings such a warm sense of happiness. They teach us to be present in the moment and embrace everything that comes with it. Our staff was lucky and grateful to have this experience with the students during school hours. We made a weather announcement over the loudspeaker and in no time, classes were outside exploring this years’ first snow.
I often struggle to be more present and in the moment. It is important to slow down within our busy lives to experience these great moments with our children. As one year comes to an end, and a new one begins, I am challenging myself to do just that, slow down amidst the daily chaos and experience things as our children do, fully present and aware to enjoy the moment.
I hope you have many magical moments this holiday season and the year ahead. Remember to slow down, look at the scenery, and maybe even taste a snowflake. See you in January!

Share what you do with your classroom teacher!

Self Regulation Exercises
Looking for something to do with the kids during the break? Try these animal exercises that are fun and help with self-regulation. Self-regulation is an important component of children's social-emotional development. Here is a great youtube video demonstrating how to do these exercises.
