Class Placement Requests
Towards the end of the year, our staff will be working together to establish class rosters for the next school year. Our class placement process will be a team effort done with great care. Our intention is to carefully balance classes according to:
Boy-girl ratio in all classes at a given grade level
Academic ability levels in all classes at a given grade level
Social-emotional development in all classes at a given grade level
Special learning needs in all classes at a given grade level
Near equal class sizes as possible in all classes at a given grade level
Social dynamics between students
As you can see, there are many considerations when making class placements to achieve a balance. We use a team approach to our decision, and as always parents are part of this team. If you have information you wish to share about your child, it will be added as one of the many pieces of information for consideration in placement.
If you have any input relative to student class placement, please put it in writing addressed to the principal no later than May 10, 2019. For questions regarding this process please contact the Rising Star office or Mrs. Darby at 913-993-4500.
Thank you for your support with this process.

Yearbook Message from PTA
Yearbook Orders made Prior to April 10 Earlier this month, a parent volunteer had her vehicle broken into. Among the items taken was an envelope containing completed yearbook order forms and payments. If you had ordered a yearbook via paper order form handed into the office prior to April 10, please email our yearbook chairs at: risingstar.yearbook@gmail.com. Please include your name, student's name/teacher/grade, and the item ordered, if possible. This does NOT affect any orders made online. We are very sorry for any difficulty this may cause. You may direct any questions to the yearbook email address above. Thank you for your patience, Rising Star PTA

PARENT PERCEPTION SURVEY
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Kansas State Board of Education launched a new vision for education – Kansas leads the world in the success of each student. This vision focuses on identifying and addressing the unique needs of each student. A key piece of this vision is helping students to explore and identify their passions while graduating them with the skills needed to be successful in the workforce and in life. To better address, the needs of current and future students, the Kansas State Department of Education is surveying parents and guardians of children 18 years of age or younger about their current perceptions about various post-high school opportunities. In other words, how do you as a parent or guardian define success for your child? Please take five minutes to complete the following survey, answering questions in respect to your oldest child who is today 18 years old or younger. Thank you in advance for your participation in this short survey and for all you do to help our state prepare the next generation of Kansas children for tomorrow’s workforce. Sincerely, Dr. Randy Watson Kansas Commissioner of Education
