Giving Thanks In November

Next Thursday at 1:15 we host our annual Veterans Day assembly. We are honored to have many current and retired military families in our school and in our faculty families. With gratitude for their contributions to our country, we want to recognize as many as we can. If you are a military family, please fill out the form in today's notes, and please join us for this time-honored tradition as we celebrate the service men and women in our family of families.

As we also enter this month of thanksgiving, please note that we begin collecting Thanksgiving dinner items today. The saints house of St. Maximilian Kolbe will be gathering the food from the classrooms and will be assembling the baskets which we ask all of you to help us deliver to needy families. The parish screens the recipients for us, and we know these families are safe to visit and truly in need of help this holiday season. Each class has an assigned menu item, and every single donation is deeply appreciated. If you are able to contribute to the purchase of turkeys, there will be students in the entry hall collecting donations. Thank you all!

Commitment Sunday

Thank you to all families who are able to take a step in increasing their Sacrificial Giving. As we continue to try to lower tuition, while recognizing our school as a parish ministry, we gratefully thank those who support our stewardship efforts. That gift is what supports our school.

Kathi Rafferty and Roseann Feldmann

Parking Lot Reminder

Just a gentle reminder about safety in our lower parking lot during afternoon pickup.

Without extenuating circumstances prearranged with the office, drivers need to drive through to pick up their students. If you see parents leaving their cars to pick up students in person, it is due to a special situation and not that the procedures have been changed.

It is truly a safety issue with the number of students we have and the need to get them out of the cold and rain, as well as avoid potential accidents. We have two lanes of through traffic and we need to keep all our students safe.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Since Governor Jay Inslee lifted the state of emergency related to COVID-19 in the state of

Washington on Monday, October 31, 2022, the vaccine mandate for volunteers in an

educational setting need no longer be enacted at St. Michael Parish School. Additionally, our

school will no longer need to use the “School Volunteer Agreement” from the Archdiocese of

Seattle. ALL Virtus/Safe Environment Training Requirements are still required of all volunteers.

Pizza Wednesday

Below you will find the link to order pizza for 11/9/22. Please remember whether you have one student or 10, you need to list their name, teacher, type of pizza, quantity, milk and quantity that matches the overall order.

As always, please email Mrs. Feldmann at or Kristina Boyer at if you have any questions.

Please click the link below to place your order.

This November the Saints House of St. Maximilian Kolbe is coordinating our annual Thanksgiving basket stewardship project in conjunction with St. Vincent de Paul Society and Pregnancy Aid. From Nov. 18th until Nov. 20th, school families will distribute Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families in the area.

Jesus had a special love for the poor and the weak. This is our opportunity to put the needs of those less fortunate first. Our goal is to provide a box of dinner supplies and a turkey for 35 families.

If you are able to deliver a basket, please click on the following link to sign up.

This is an excellent opportunity for families to reach out and share their abundance with others in our community.

What Is A Birthday Book?

Birthday books are added to the collection at St. Michael School library in honor of someone's birthday. Any student can select a book from the collection of new books waiting to be added to our library. The book will be presented at Monday Morning Opening and the birthday boy or girl will be the first person to check out the book!

If you would like to celebrate your student's birthday by donating a birthday book, please complete the form. A $5.00 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the book. Please check if you want your FACTS account charged or you can send in cash or check (payable to St. Michael School and marked "birthday book" on the memo line). If the cost is prohibitive, please contact Mrs. Quebedeaux (school librarian), as we do not want any child to be excluded who wishes to participate.

A special Birthday Club bookplate will be printed and placed inside the book cover with your child's name and year the book was donated.

Library Volunteers Needed

Our school library is currently looking for volunteers. If you are interested in helping out or have questions regarding volunteering, please email Sandra Quebedeaux at:

If a student or staff member is ill or COVID-19 positive:

Students and staff who have symptoms of COVID-19 are required to stay home and should get

tested. Any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 is required to isolate at

home. Individuals may return to school on Day 6, if they have no symptoms and test negative

on that day (If there are symptoms, Day 0 is the first day of symptoms. Day 1 is the first full day

after symptoms developed. If there are no symptoms, Day 0 is the date being tested. Day 1 is

the first full day after the specimen was collected for a positive test.). If the individual tests

positive on Day 6, the individual is likely still contagious, and should continue to isolate and wait

24-48 hours to test again. If the individual tests negative on two sequential tests each

performed 24-48 hours apart and has no symptoms, the individual can end isolation and return

to school.

If a student or staff member is exposed to COVID-19:

The Department of Health no longer requires exposed students and staff to quarantine. To

protect the school, students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, who are potentially

exposed to COVID-19 should:

  • Monitor for symptoms, AND
  • Test as soon as possible after exposure and then repeat testing every 24-48 hours through at least the first 5 days after exposure AND
  • Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days after exposure.

COVID-19 positive cases and exposure cases need to be reported to the St. Michael Health

Office ( COVID-19 testing is available through the Health Office, if home testing is not available.
