News from Arbor View Elementary School: September 25, 2020
A message from the principal
There are many factors that were considered in order to make the assignments: keeping siblings together, balancing remote and in-person, special education, dual language needs, challenge, intervention, student groupings, speech, OT, and many more. It is just not possible to meet everyone's request and adhere to the class sizes and social distancing requirements.

PTC Grade representatives needed
Hey AV parents!
By this time, we usually have parents who have volunteered to help with classroom parties and other annual events. Unfortunately, there was a kink thrown into the plan this time around but we still need your help!
We are searching for representatives for each grade level. We don’t exactly know what responsibilities are included just yet but we all need to be flexible under the current circumstances. Fall is upon us and Halloween is fast approaching! While we can not organize any parties, we are planning a Halloween drive-by, Spirit Week, costume contest and pumpkin contest via Flip Grid, pumpkins decorating the walk at AV, a Chalk the Walk (let kids do some artwork on the sidewalk) and decorate the trees to add to the festive look of AV. If interested in volunteering to be a grade representative, please contact Debbie Damato at damatohouse@msn.com.
Please electronically sign Student/Parent Handbook
If you have not yet signed the 2020-21 Student / Parent Handbook, please complete it as soon as possible. Families should have received an email from “CCSD 89 Handbook”, asking them to electronically sign the Handbook. If you did not receive the handbook, please contact info@ccsd89.org.
Yearbook photo request
Attention Arbor View families, we need your help! Though it is only September, this has certainly already been a school year to remember. Just like every other year, we want to document Arbor View’s journey through the 2020-21 school year with a yearbook. Since we have not yet been able to be physically together, this is where you come in. We would like to request that you send in photos of your child/children during this remote learning time. We have a list of categories which will be added to as needed throughout the year. Please follow the guidelines below when submitting a photo.
GUIDELINES

- Make sure the photo is of good quality and not blurry
- Rename your photo with your student's name and the category (i.e. JamesHill_Music.jpeg or SarahSmith_Technology.jpeg)

The tickets can be printed from www.ccsd89.org/certify Students will also be given new tickets in class. If a student does not have their ticket when they arrive, they will move to a separate area so the school can contact their family before they enter school. School supplies: bring two masks, learning device to classroom each day
All students who will be in classrooms should bring two masks to school each day, in case one gets damaged, soiled, or lost. The school has only a limited supply of replacement masks. Students should also bring their learning device (Chromebook or iPad) to school, and then back home, each day.
