We continue to celebrate all our students and teachers success in the months of December and January! Our students continue to thrive in a safe, nurturing environment. Our COVID numbers have gone down a lot. We only had 2 positive numbers last week. As time continue to pass our the number of students who get vaccinated go up our over all number of positive cases will drop dramatically.
If you would like to share your vaccination records to the school, please bring your child's fully vaccinated card to the office. We will make a copy of the card and keep it confidential for our school's records. Having this information will help us if your child is exposed on campus and it will determine if your child will need to stay home for 0, 5 or 10 days.
Vaccinations are NOT mandatory, however, we are collecting this information from any families that would like to share with the school.
Thank you for all your love and support for Jefferson! Together, we will continue to be the very BEST elementary school in the planet!

Message from Superintendent Tavitian
Dear Lennox Families and Community,
I am hoping this message finds you and your loved ones healthy and in good spirits. Thank you for your continual support to our schools, principals, and teachers during this COVID-19 surge that we are currently facing. Please know that our goal in the Lennox School District will always be to do what is best for the safety and security of our students and staff. During these last two weeks, our entire school staff has been working extremely hard to quickly identify any positive cases and their possible close contacts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and keep our students who are healthy in school.
I want to thank you for ensuring that our students are coming to school properly masked to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Given the number of cases that continue to increase as per the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, we want our parents to feel confident about sending their children to school every single day as long as they are healthy to do so. At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, our Board of Trustees supported the opportunity for our Lennox parents to have the choice to request an individual student plexiglass to serve as an added layer of safety and protection while in the classroom. These student plexiglasses will be placed in the classroom on the student’s general workspace (where students spend the majority of their day) temporarily as we get through this COVID-19 surge. Once the surge has ended, the plexiglasses will be removed from student desks.
If you are interested in requesting a plexiglass for your child, please complete the following form starting on Friday, January 21st through Wednesday, January 26th. Once we have collected these requests, student plexiglass will be delivered beginning on Thursday, January 27th.
Student Masks
Please continue to ensure that your child is coming to school wearing a well-fitted mask. If possible, parents are encouraged to send their children wearing a surgical mask, a double mask, or a KN95 mask as pictured below. Our schools will continue to provide a clean surgical mask for students as needed.
Testing Clinics
Lennox will continue to provide free COVID-19 testing on Fridays from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Lennox Middle School Parent Center. In addition to this free resource, testing will also be available on Saturdays at the Lennox Library from 10:00 am-4:00 pm from January 8th-January 29th.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation with both staff and student positive cases and attend the weekly meetings with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) for any new changes to the current safety guidelines. Once again, thank you for keeping your children home if they are not feeling, communicating with your school site staff, and having your children tested to prevent any unnecessary spread of the COVID-19 virus. Thank you again for being our educational partners as we continue to work together to keep our students and staff members safe.
Respectfully,
Gabby Tavitian
Superintendent
January 2022
Dear Jaguar Families,
Welcome Back! We are excited to welcome our students back on Monday. In preparation for our staff and student’s return we want to remind our families of the COVID updates sent to you from the County and District Office. Here are the updates on Masking, Isolation/Quarantine, School Notification, If you would like more information and additional resources regarding the latest COVID-19 procedures, please visit http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/.
Masking Changes for Students: Our staff and students have been doing well with proper masking compliance.
New requirements for All Include:
- We will require masks outdoors in crowded spaces where physical distancing is not feasible except when actively eating or drinking.
- We will provide and require all staff to wear upgraded (surgical/respirator) masks.
- It is recommended that all students wear a well-fitting, non-cloth mask of multiple layers of non-woven material with a nose wire.
Going forward, we will institute the following changes for all:
- Universal masking is currently required for both indoor and outdoor settings on the school campus when physical distancing cannot be maintained. This includes entering campuses in the morning, during passing periods, at recess and lunch, and when leaving school at the end of the day. This is in addition to everyone wearing masks indoors at all times.
- The District has available blue surgical masks in child and older student sizes, and use of these is encouraged. However, a student may wear a mask of their choosing as long as they wear it properly, covering both nose and mouth at all times, as described in point #1 above.
- LSD will continue to provide student size disposable masks to students who forget their personal mask or prefer this option.
- Students must be masked at all times (except for actively eating)
Quarantine/Isolation: For students who are positive for COVID, the following updated guidelines now apply. Note: Day 0 is the day your symptoms began, Day 1 is the first full day after symptoms appear.
Asymptomatic: Individuals who are asymptomatic (have no symptoms) may end isolation after five (5) days under the following conditions:
- At least five (5) days have passed since your positive Covid-19 viral test was taken, AND
- Have remained symptom free, AND
- Have a negative Covid-19 viral test collected five (5) days or more later.
Symptomatic: Individuals who tested positive for Covid-19 and have symptoms may end isolation after day five (5) under the following conditions:
- At least five (5) days have passed since your 1st symptoms appeared, ANDCopy of Lennox Covid19 Vaccine Clinic December and January (2).pdf Your symptoms have improved, no fever for 24 hours or more without any fever-reducing medication, AND
- You have a negative Covid-19 viral test collected five (5) days or more later.
NOTE: Whether you are asymptomatic or symptomatic, it is better to use a rapid antigen test (LAB CONFIRMED) because NAAT/PCR tests can stay positive even after you are no longer infectious
School Notification: If your child is having any flu-like or cold symptoms you should get them tested AND stay home. As many of us are returning from travel throughout the US and internationally, please make note of the guidelines set forth by the California Department of Public Health. It is recommended to test 3-5 days after arriving back home regardless of vaccination status.
Testing Kits: At this time, we have not received the test kits and do not have a definitive date of when they will be arriving.
Testing Sites: Additional testing site locations can also be found on the following website: https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
Place: Grace Hopper STEM Academy
Address: 601 Grace Avenue
Inglewood, CA 90301

Boxtops & Yoplait Donation to Jefferson
Playworks has made a BIG impact in the school. 3 years ago, our school chose to use our valuable funds to support structured play at the school. The results are clear! We have higher attendance, lower consequences for severe behavior, less bullying and in general kids are happier on campus!
Focusing on a happy, safe environment has been a gift for our kids and staff. When the filming started, we had no idea that at the end of the day, our school would receive a generous donation of recess/PE Equipment and $10,000 for our playground.
We are very excited to share this happy and wonderful news with our parents and community!
Go Jefferson!
21-22 Student Cellphone Policy
We need your support!
We have noticed an increase of students who have a cellphone on campus.
If you would like your child to have a Cellphone on Campus, you need to complete and turn in a Cellphone Contract. No Contract, No Phone!
In general, students should NOT have a cellphone on campus. Each of our classrooms and office has a phone, if your child needs to contact a family member, they can call from the classroom or the office. If a parent would like to contact a student, they can always call the office and we will pass on the information.
If a parent needs a cellphone for their child we need to make sure that a Cellphone Contract is completed each school year.
Parents and Students Must Agree to the following:
- A Signed Contract is on file in the office once a year.
- A cellphone MUST Remain OFF, not silent during the school day.
- A cellphone MUST not be seen or shown to any student or staff member.
Failure to follow these three rules will result in the phones being taken away and the parent will need to pick it up in the office. No exceptions.
Halloween- October 29th
Halloween Guidelines:
- No Scary Costumes with Blood or guts!
- No Weapons and or items that are dangerous to the safety of our students.
- No Costumes are allowed that do not follow the dress code. For example, no short shirts, shorts, short skirts or see through lace is allowed.
- All students need to wear a COVID Face Mask. Students can wear this on-top of their costumes or inside the costume, but masks are a must indoors.
- Please remind your child that we are socially distancing and we should not be less than 6 feet apart outside.
Halloween Costume Parade and Carnival:
The staff will have it's yearly costume parade for the students in the morning. At Recess, students will be able to participate in the Halloween Student Parade. Finally, during the day, we will host a Halloween Carnival for our students.
These activities are not open to our parents. However, we do have limited spaces for a few parent volunteers who are fully vaccinated. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up below. We will contact parents.
Thank you!

TRAFFIC REMINDERS
The safety of our children during morning drop off and after school pick up times is very important to everyone. When drivers do not follow traffic regulations, we put all children in danger. I am asking for your cooperation so that we are able to ensure the safety of all children being dropped off and picked up.
In order to avoid traffic issues on 104th and Condon streets, and most importantly for the safety of your children please read and follow the reminders below:
1. If you drive to drop off or pick up your child, please use the unloading and loading white zone on 104th and Condon streets. Many drivers double park when dropping off or picking up kids, thus violating traffic regulations and also putting children at risk when they get off the car and cross the street to enter the school. Do not use the parking lot to drop off or pick up your child.
2. Please ensure that you are NOT dropping off or picking up your kid(s) on the OPPOSITE SIDE of the street and then having the kids cross the streets on 104th or Condon, this is VERY dangerous and can lead to serious injury to your child.
3. The white curb on 104th and Condon streets is strictly for drop off and pick up only. We can’t use the white curb for parking. The white curve is for pick up or drop off only, violators, may be towed away or given a traffic citation. Traffic on both street needs to be fluid and continue to move without causing traffic.
4. Early Pick Up: Reminder that NO EARLY PICK UP is allowed 10 minutes before the end the day bell rings. Please schedule your appointments in a way that will not interfere with your son/daughter school day. This will continue to be enforced.
5. We are all community citizens. Our behaviors and actions matter. Please interact with each other and with school site staff with respect and civility at all times.
The CHP will give citations to drivers who violate traffic regulations and or violate our civility policy. Please see the notices attached. In order to ensure the safety of your children, we need your assistance in following traffic regulations.
We look forward to your support!

Update on Covid Case
We would like to inform you that we have recently received information about a confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in at least one member of our community at Jefferson School. Cleaning and disinfection of the exposed location has been completed. As the Coronavirus situation in our country and our community is evolving, we urge you to take necessary precautions to limit coronavirus spread in our community.
Our facility is working with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health to follow up with the case and will reach out to all persons who are identified as having had close contact with the case to recommend home quarantine and COVID-19 testing. If you or your child have not contacted, it means that you or your child were not identified as having been exposed to the case.
How You Can Help
Be proactive about reducing the number of interactions that students and staff have with one another by practicing physical (or social) distancing (staying at least 6 feet apart) to limit the spread of the coronavirus. In addition to physical distancing, another important tool to prevent the spread of coronavirus is to practice good hygiene. Important public health prevention messages include:
Stay home when you are sick. Anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID 19 should remain at home in isolation for a minimum of 10 days plus at least 24 hours after the resolution of fever (without fever-reducing medication) and improvement in other symptoms.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Sing the Happy Birthday song to help know when it has been 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and then dispose of the tissue and clean your hands immediately. If you do not have a tissue, use their sleeve, not your hands, to cover their coughs and sneezes.
Limit close contact with people who are sick, and avoid sharing food, drinks, or utensils.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
Children over 2 years of age, students and staff should wear a mask or face covering while in the Educational Setting, unless exempted.
Health screening of students and staff for COVID-19 which includes asking about symptoms consistent with COVID-19 illness and a temperature check prior to entering the facility will help keep our Educational Setting safe.
Please note that all information, including the name(s) of ill persons, shared regarding any Public Health investigation is confidential in order to protect patient privacy.

21-22 Class List
Class List will be posted on Tuesday August 17th 9am to 3pm. We invite our parents to come to the school and find out who their child's teacher will be for the school year. Please bring a pen, pencil and paper to write one. Many of our parents use their phone to take a picture.
Please be aware that class changes will not be permitted, we have worked really hard to balance our classes using student data. Moving or changing a child's class it like wearing a shoe size that does not fit for the rest of the year. Each of classes are created to service our students with their academic needs.
Thank You for your understanding.
