A Note From Mrs. Garrison
We had a great first week of school. Don't forget to order your child a grey 1994 t-shirt for our 25th year Anniversary picture, field trips, and spirit day on Friday. The link closes on Monday. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us!

Parent Information Night
Parent information night is Tuesday, August 27th.
- PPCD, Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Second grade: 5:30-6:30 pm.
- Third and Fourth grade: 6:30-7:30 pm.
Please plan to attend to learn about your child’s classroom.
School Communication
Failure to opt-in by August 20 could result in not receiving timely or emergency text messages from Conroe ISD or your child’s campus.
Lunch
Beginning of the Year Dismissal
- Cochran’s and Capstone Riders: If you are meeting your child as a bike rider or walker, please plan to be there by 3:00 pm until August 23rd .
- Bus Riders: Please be patient with our bus service during the first two weeks of the school year. The drivers are getting to know their students and ensuring that a parent is present to pick-up Kindergarten students. Buses may be running late to pick-up and drop-off.
Carline Information
Please be patient as it usually takes a few days for everyone to settle into a carline routine. We are working hard to make it go as smoothly as possible.
Tips for the Car Rider Line
- Write your child’s name in bold black marker on the green car rider sign.
- Hang your sign from the rear view mirror with a clothes hanger.
- Pull up closely to the car in front of you.
- Don’t stop to look for your child. We will bring your child to you.
- Do not get out of the car.
- Put your child’s car seat on the passenger side. We will not walk around the car to place them on the driver’s side
- Teach your child to buckle up. If they need help with this, pull into a parking space.
- Don’t hold up the line.
WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE and are working hard to get your child home safely!
Clinic Happenings from Nurse Melissa
All medications, including prescription medication, over the counter medication, cough drops and inhalers, must be signed into the clinic by a parent or guardian. Students are not allowed to transport medication to and from school.
Accidents and spills happen often. Please send an extra change of clothing with your child in their backpack. We have a limited supply on hand in the clinic.
Girls on the Run
This fall, Powell Elementary, will once again be a site for Girls on the Run (GOTR). GOTR will be open to girls in 3rd and 4th grade. It is a program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind!
GOTR is a 10-week program where girls develop essential skills to help them establish lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. During the program, we also focus on the importance of teamwork, healthy relationships, and the role they can play in positively affecting and shaping our world. The girls will influence their community through a service project and physically and emotionally prepare for a celebratory 5K event!
The fall season begins the week of September 9. We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:00. Mrs. Owens will be talking to the 3rd and 4th grade girls about GOTR in PE class next week. If you are interested, please go to www.gotrgreaterhouston.org to get more information and register your daughter for the fall. We are looking forward to a great season!
