Dear Families,

Tomorrow, May 27 is the 8th grade Advanced Art Show from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Commons. Come see our students' creativity and hard work on display! This week's newsletter has important updates about the 8th grade field trip on June 1 and the 8th grade promotion ceremonies on June 13. We also have the latest episode of the MMS News Show!

8th Grade Field Trip Chaperones

We had an amazing response from parents willing to chaperone the June 1 field trip - Thank You!! We would love to have everyone attend, but unfortunately we do not have enough bus space to allow for this. If you turned in your name as a chaperone, we will send home a letter with your student today letting you know if you will be able to attend or not. If you have any questions, please call the office at 488-3326.

8th Grade Field Trip Details

  • If a student does not have all forms turned in, they will not be able to attend. Behavior concerns can also impact whether students are able to attend.

  • The buses will leave MMS at 8:00 a.m. If students are late to school, they will miss the trip. Students who do not attend will have activities to do here at school.

  • We will have a bagged breakfast and lunch provided. Students can bring extra food if they choose.

  • All backbacks and bags will need to stay on the bus. Students will not be allowed to bring them into the musem. Please leave all valuables at home.

  • We are representing Othello. Polite behavior and following all directions will be very important! Let’s show people in Seattle how great Othello is!

  • Students need to be picked up at school when we return, which should be no later than 7:00 p.m.

Promotion Update

We are excited for this year's 8th grade promotion ceremonies. Here are some more details about June 13:

  • After each cerremony, students and families can have thier picture taken at our promotion photo booth.
  • After both ceremonies are over, all 8th grade students will have a special school BBQ lunch outside. The afternoon will include other fun activities for the entire group to enjoy together.
  • We encourage students to dress up if they choose, however, the MMS Dress Code still applies. All outfits must be school appropriate. School administrators may exercise their authority to determine/enforce any clothing that is a major disruption to the school environment.

Students will receive 4 tickets to give to family members who want to watch them get their certificates. If a family cannot attend, both ceremonies will be live-streamed on YouTube.

Find your student's advisory teacher's name below to know which ceremony they will be in.
