My New Year Resolutions 2015
I have always been a reader, but the past few years I have mostly read school related or leadership books, so I decided last January I was going to set a goal of how many books I was going to read for the year and force myself to broaden my horizons. I did not write down the number, but I think it was 24 books for the year, and this does not include children's lit books. I learned that a kindle is a great thing to have when you can't get to Barnes and Nobles on a regular basis. These books were a wide variety of things from school related to historical fiction, and down right trashy…I read book 1 & 2 of the 50 Shades of Grey series, but can't bring myself to read the last one. I felt like God was going to zap me any minute for reading that stuff, however I have heard the 3rd book brings it all together and answers all the questions of why Grey is so different…. With that said I did read 22 books this year with the last one being Unbroken, which I read over Christmas break, great book and unbelievable how the POW's made it through this horrific time to tell about it. I am challenging each of you to set a goal with me for this year and lets begin to chart our reading in the building, we can do titles in the RTI room, but put bar graphs in the hallways for our kids to see we are readers too. I think I will go for 25 this year. There I said it, so if I forget you can help me remember. I started a new one last night called Sweetsir by Helen Yglesias. I found this at mom's house when we were going through her things last year so I brought it home to read. It is going to be different, in the 1st chapter the wife kills her abusive husband by stabbing him in the kitchen, this is normally not my style but I am going to stick with it. Come on all, you can do it.
One last item for my resolutions this year is one that is truly sucking the energy out of me... checking emails on the computer. If I receive an email from you I am going to try and come give you a response personally. This really helps me in two ways, one I won't get sucked in by other emails once I read yours, and two it will give me some exercise to walk to your room and I really need that! I encourage you to pop in and see me or find me in the building if you have questions, because you too can use a change of scenery, and I will not be checking emails as often during the day. It seems to me that before email was around we got all our questions answered without missing too much by waiting for an opportunity to hunt me down. So lets all use our time better than being stuck in front of a computer answering emails for hours at a time.
OK there you have it, and there isn't anything in there about torturing myself through hours of strenuous physical activity…ha ha ha
I pray blessings on each for this coming year and may it more plentiful than you ever could have imagined.
Happy 2015!
