GOAL #1: STUDENT GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

This was the week annually dedicated as the Week of Respect. Our schools observed it in a multitude of ways on which I'll report at Wednesday's BOE meeting. Photos below reflect a few activities.

To jump start the Character Theme Kickoff in conjunction with the Week of Respect, a helicopter landed at Eldridge Park Monday morning. TheNJ State Police MedEvac delivered a banner to the school. Each class had a puzzle piece that was placed on the banner to unveil the school’s new theme: Today’s the Day…Everything is Possible!

Today was the Cardboard Challenge in Erin Cook's first grade classroom. Parents attended to take the challenge. You may recall that you got to try your hand at this challenge at a BOE meeting last year. Enjoy the photos!

GOAL #2: CULTURE OF LEARNING FOR ALL

Within the last week, I did instructional rounds with building administrators and supervisors at BF and EP. We are collecting data on questioning - who's asking (teachers or students) and the level of rigor.

Tuesday Melissa Lockett and I attended a NJ School Development Council session on Science Standards & Integrating Math, ELA & Tech at Rutgers.

Off and on throughout the week I worked on our strategic plan and on a rubric for evaluating secretaries.

Yesterday I attended the latter half of the CIAPD meeting and today I attended Personnel.

I was involved in two round two interviews for two positions on Wednesday.

Agenda setting for next week's meeting was yesterday afternoon.

This morning was the Executive County Superintendent's monthly roundtable meeting.

GOAL #3: LOCAL & GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Current LTEF President Kelly Bidle, President Elect Lisa McCormick, and Ivy Cohen met with Andrew and me on Wednesday for a touch base and planning meeting.

GOAL #4: FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

We haven't received a MOU back from the LTEA.

SUPERINTENDENT GOALS & PDP ACTIVITIES

Goal 1: Strategic Plan - a system has been established for administrators to indicate what activities are done relative to the first three goals. This is ongoing.

Goal 2: Evaluation Systems - I've almost completed an evaluation rubric for secretaries, the first of its kind for our district.

Goal 3: NWEA Reading - no work on this goal this period.

Goal 4: Instructional Rounds - participated in two instructional rounds this period.

Goal 5: Community Participation - met with LTEF leadership.
