Family Weekly News
May 1, 2019
Dear Brooklyn Collaborative Families
The PTA is an essential part of BCS. The 2018-2019 PTA is so proud to have served! They got a lot done!
Now it’s YOUR turn - please consider nominating yourself, or a parent you respect, to serve on the PTA.
Supporting and serving on the PTA is about your choices for the kind of school you want BCS to be! The PTA needs 8-10 parents to come forward to create a board that represents parents, stands up for students, and supports the teachers and administrators at BCS.
Did you know that many of the unique academic activities and extracurricular events that our students love are supported by the PTA?
You can supplement your child’s school experience by giving your time and talent to the PTA!
You are invited you to attend the PTA General Meeting this Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30 p.m. when PTA Executive Board nominations for president, treasurer, secretary, and members-at- large will take place in the BCS/BNS Cafeteria.
Be the difference in your child’s education experience!
In partnership,
Scill, Amanda, Imani (BCS School Leaders)
Tracey (BCS Parent Coordinator)

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
BCS/BNS School Safety Wilson
BCS aenior Nasrine and teacher assistant (TA) interviewed School Safety Wilson and summarized below.
How long have you worked here and what do you do?
Since the year 2010. Wilson is a security guard for both BNS and BCS
What is one of your most memorable moment?
If I had to choose one it would be our College March when both schools come together to celebrate the seniors.. It is definitionaly a special moment seeing the community come together, sharing the joy, happiness, successes of our the seniors.
Is there any hard moments while working as a security guard?
Nothing really sticks out. It’s been an amazing time and we are really able to handle things efficiently. Sometimes we don’t know how students will respond in terms of their behavior. But most of the time students will find us and apologize for their behavior--- making it all worth it.
What are some ways you contribute to the community?
We provide school safety for students and staff. We are the ones who are always there when students or staff are in challenging situations. Not only are we here to stop crime, but we are also here to hear our to students personal problems. We help students. They are like family to us!
What is something you love the most about your job?
Working with both schools and helping the students. We take every kid and their situations seriously. They are like family to us and we are there if they need someone to communicate with. It is very heartwarming when students come back to tell us that I helped them get through their personal problems. Whatever hurts them hurts us too.
