This Week!

MATH: We continued our unit on fractions. Students are adding and subtracting mixed numbers. They are working hard and getting better as this is a difficult task!

READING: We read a reader's theatre about a mystery. We also worked on identifying the Theme of a text. We made a fact and opinion chain to put out in the hallway!

WRITING: Going with the theme of reading a mystery, we wrote our own mysteries which were a lot of fun! Once they are completed, students will be excited to share with you!

Social Studies: We started a unit on Government. This week we focused on voting and suffrage. The students learned why it is important to be informed when you are voting on something and also how it is a right that we have earned over the years.

Next Week

MATH: We will be finishing our unit on fractions and be testing on Friday.

READING: We will read an excerpt from "Because of Winn Dixie" from our StoryTown books. This week we will also be working on characters, setting and plot.

WRITING: Students will work on making their own info-graphic by researching a specific topic and designing their info-graphic to display the research gathered.

Social Studies: We will be working on a "mock trial" that students will perform for the class in order to study the Judicial Branch of the government. We will also be working on learning all the branches of government.
