Today is Community Helper Day in K5
Varsity State Soccer
The CCA Varsity Soccer team played in Joplin and Carthage last weekend in the MCSAA State Tournament. CCA’s first game was against Heritage Classical Academy on Thursday. The score was tied 4-4 until late in the second half when Heritage scored, making it 4-5, and giving the Patriots their first loss in the tourney.
In their second game the Patriots took on Christian Learning Center on Friday, CLC won despite the game being tied at the end of the first half. The ending score was 2-6, and the Patriots got their 2nd loss of the tourney.
CCA was supposed to play the Show-Me Christian Angels on Saturday in Joplin, but the game was rained out and postponed to Monday in Clinton at 4:00pm. CCA had the 3-0 lead at the end of the first half and ended up winning 4-1. Jake, Matthew and Jared all scored for CCA. CCA placed 5th in the MCSAA tournament and ended their first boys’ Varsity soccer season with a record of 8-13.

- Harvest Fest at Northeast Baptist Church from 6-8pm on October 31st
- Trunk or Treat at First Baptist Church (Vansant) at 6pm on October 31st.

Fall Recipe for Fruit Crisp from our kitchen to yours
Fruit Crisp
Ingredients:
6 Large Apples, 1 cup of Brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of Vanilla, ¾ of a cup of Quick Cook Oats, ½ cup of flour, 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon, and ½ a cup of unsalted butter.
Instructions:
Peel, core and slice apples.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Layer apples into baking dish ( I use 9x9 )
Mix together, flour, brown sugar, oats and cinnamon in a bowl.
Add in vanilla and cut in butter with a pastry blender or fork.
Work until mixture forms large crumbs.
Sprinkle over the apples.
Bake for 3 minutes or until topping is browned and apples are soft.
