20th Annual Cuddle and Compassion Day
This Friday, we will celebrate Cuddle & Compassion Day in honor of Aaron Hunter, who was a Northmoor Kindergartener when he passed away from cancer in 2004.
On this special day, we invited Students to wear comfy pajamas to school. Students and staff will spend the day cuddled up and reading in their pajamas in honor of Aaron, who loved to wear superhero pajamas.
20th Annual Cuddle Compassion Day
For those of you who are new to our school family, every year we take a special day to cuddle up in our pajamas and show compassion for the children of St. Jude. This event began 20 years ago when a Northmoor student, Aaron Hunter, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Our school community pulled together around the holiday season to help this family in need. Aaron passed away on December 10, 2004, (that year's Cuddle Compassion Day). Mayor Dave Ransburg issued a proclamation declaring December 10th as Aaron Hunter Cuddle Compassion Day in Peoria. There is a memorial outside of our library with Aaron’s picture as we renamed the library the Aaron Hunter Library. As we honor the children of St. Jude, we show compassion and give thanks for every healthy child in our community. Friday we raise almost $600!
Attendance Counts Everyday!
This week we had a grade level tie between 2nd and 4th Grade. This is the 3rd weekly win for 2nd grade; therefore they won a grade level party! Ms. Simonich;s class was the top class this week with 98% attendance! They will get to pick from the treasure box! Way to Go!
NWEA Testing
This week students will be taking their Winter NWEA tests in math and reading. This is a good measure for teachers to see your child's academic growth this year. Encourage your child to take their time and try their best!
PBIS Parties
Friday we will host PBIS parties in the classrooms for student who have not received an office referral or more than 2 Think it Throughs. Students will get to choose what activity they want to attend. Some of the choices are cheerleading, play dough, Legos and free gym!
