From the Middle EMS and ELA
News from the Principal, April 17, 2020
Hello Parents and Families,
I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy!
Our student attendance and participation continues to be very strong. Thank you for all your encouragement of our school community. This is definitely not anything close to what teachers and students would prefer, and we are thankful for your patience and support. If at any time, you have questions or concerns, please email any of us and we'll work through it together.
If students are not able to join the Zoom Chat at 11:00 am with their teacher, but they do complete work in their google classrooms or send an email, we will mark students present.

PARENT AND STUDENT FEEDBACK
We deeply value parent/student feedback as we are all navigating this new "remote learning" system. 80% of the respondents shared that they feel that online learning is going well. Thank you for the kind words and encouragement--we are all in this together and making adjustments every day to fit new challenges and needs. We are definitely open to hearing your opinion and we will do everything we can to accommodate students' needs.
Here are a few changes we made based on feedback:
- Parents can request access to google classrooms to follow along with assignments.
- Taking attendance just once a day--there are many ways that students can "complete" attendance, but parents should only get one call or email a day for absence.
- Teachers are setting up more zoom meetings for "Check-Ins" on the learning. Students can join these on an optional basis.
- Grades--we don't want students to feel overly stressed about grades. Again, this is not "Choice A" when it comes to how to deliver instruction. If a student is concerned about a low grade, he/she can ask for opportunities to re-do or make up the work.
