Next Friday, November 18th, is our next Spirit Day! Students are welcome to wear their favorite team jersey or sports uniform. Go team spirit! As always, if your child does not have or want to wear the spirit day theme, Fridays are a great day to wear Fammatre gear!

This week flew by for me most likely because Fammatre was a hub of activity this week.

Monday we held our first School Site Council and English Language Advisory Board meeting. I was able to talk about the Parent Survey many of you completed a short while ago.

Tuesday we held our first K-2 Literacy Night in over 15 years. Our amazing Mrs. Erich designed activities for all stations and families to take home. In addition to organizing, Mrs. Erich presented with Mrs. Kuljis and Mrs. Austin. It was wonderful to see so many families come to learn about learning to read.

Wednesday the teachers had the afternoon to work on report cards. Of course, a couple of hours is not enough time to complete the process, but I am glad some of the workday was able to be given to them to start the process. Long nights and much weekend time will be spent getting them ready to send home with your students on Friday, November 18.

Yesterday, we had Brandon Roberts from the Dairy Council of California bring one of his cows and a calf in the Mobile Dairy Classroom to Fammatre. Buttercup (cow) and Bruno (calf) were well received by the students. I had the honor of subbing in Mrs. Majors' kindergarten class yesterday and the students were so excited to see a "real cow"! Before the day ended, I had the students write/draw thank you notes to Farmer Brandon.

Last Night, Matt HIll, Director of Educational Technology, for Cambrian, hosted an Hour Of Code Night at Fammatre. Three Branham High School Students presented different coding activities for students to choose from. It was well attended and students seemed to be enjoying the opportunity.

As we prepare for the upcoming break, I want to remind families the public libraries are a great resource, not only for books, but also for technology. With a library card, you have access to iPads, Chromebooks, Wi-Fi Hotspots, passes to museums, and educational websites. They also offer classes for English Language Learners, activities for children, and much more. Fammatre is proud to announce Brian Van Campenhout, as our District Student of the Month recipient for November. Brian was chosen by our fourth grade teachers and was honored at last week's district board meeting. We are proud of all your accomplishments Brian!

We want to send a big shout out to TMT Enterprises & Eric Buckelew for the generous soil donation to our school. The Fammatre Garden is grateful for this generous donation and we look forward to seeing many plants, flowers and vegetables growing throughout the school year.

We also want to thank and acknowledge the amazing parents that transported and distributed the soil to all our planter boxes. (in the rain!)

If you were not satisfied with your child's school pictures, be sure to have them bring their full packet back and Lifetouch will retake their photo next Thursday, November 17th. Be sure to take out the class photo if you purchased one. Students who missed picture day may also get their photo taken on Thursday, Nov. 17th. (*be sure to let their teacher know). Our Scholastic Book Faire is coming next week - November 14th - 18th, in our school library. Students 1st - 5th will have a chance to visit during their lunch break and parents may stop in after school. Come by and check out all the fun books available. Great ideas for birthday & holiday gifts.

Yearbooks can be purchased online only at https://yearbookforever.com for $30.00 starting in November. The HSC is covering the online service fee through the end of the year. Starting Jan. 1st, 2023, the yearbooks will be $32.75 each.

Personalized dedications can be purchased for 5th grade students only. To purchase a personalized dedication for your 5th grade student, please click "Get Started" under the Create Recognition Ad. Dedications are $10.00 and are limited.
