A Message from Mrs. Caudill

I hope everyone had a fantastic winter break. I hope it was everything you had hoped it would be. I found joy in being able to unplug, relax and focus on my favorite job, mom.

At Amerman, we are excited to begin a new year. This year our goal is to continue helping our students learn all of the important things they will need to be successful learners! We are passionate about learning and everyone at Amerman; classroom teachers, humanities teachers, building aides, playground aides, custodians, and office staff, want you to know that we are committed to providing your child/children a positive and fun place to learn

Please be sure your child brings boots, snow pants, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. to school for the next few months. Unless the temperatures/windchill are below zero, students go outside for a much-needed fresh air/movement break.

Stay warm,

Devon Caudill

SHOUT OUT & BIG THANK YOU to all our families who continue to make our dismissal loop procedures run smoothly and safely!!!!!

We had a successful first week of 2022 because so many families were prepared and paid attention. This is definitely a team effort!

For anyone who might be using the loop for the first time in 2022, here are a few tips to follow:

  • Be sure that your child/ren knows to meet you at the Loop.

  • Display your name card in an upright position until your child/ren are safely in your car. (We need to know your names to call for students and to help our rotating teachers get the right student to the right car.)

  • Display your name BOLDLY! (Whether cloudy or sunny, it is easier to read the name when it is BIG and BOLD)

  • Keep your car in park until your child/ren are safely in your car.

  • Stay in your car while the Loop is open. (Our teachers and staff need to stay focused on the vehicles and students. Please do not walk up to teachers and staff in the Loop. It is safer for you to go to the office for assistance.)

  • The dismissal loop will be closed at 3:55, if you have not entered the loop by 3:55 and the gym doors are closed you will have to come to the office to collect your child/ren.

During the Month of January we will be working on Habit 4: Think Win-Win this month. Everyone can Win!

What this means: Think about others as well as yourself. Long-term relationships require mutual respect and mutual benefit.

“I make deposits into others’ Emotional Bank Accounts.”

“When conflict arises, I look for third alternatives.”

“I balance courage for getting what I want, with

consideration for what others want.”

How can I do this in my life?

1. Live by the Golden Rule- Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.

Great Books for Habit #4- Think Win Win

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes

Lilly’s Big Day by Kevin Henkes

Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse by Leo Lionni

Let’s Be Enemies by Janice May Udry

I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman Orloff
